I have been doing this curriculum and adding on to it with my own things as my children grow for years! It is a fantastic base for older children and a fantastic full curriculum for younger. It has fantastic ideas we take each continent and study it in depth per year. The confessions of a homeschooler itemsAre wonderfully engaging and information packed for the teacher!

Hey Erica! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Expedition Earth. I'm currently using it with my 5th grader and 2nd grader. I don't use all the components, but we use what fits into our life. I tried (unsuccessfully) to create a U.S. Geography from scratch last year. Huge fail. I'll be purchasing Road Trip USA to use with my boys next year. Thanks for all your hard work!!!

HI Erica: Between this curriculum and the Road trip one which one do you recommend to start first on teaching? also does the road trip curriculum has a list of all the items need it for the project like this one? Do you this curriculum yearly? Thanks
@erica_arndt

The Road Trip USA and Expedition Earth are both full year curriculum that should be done separately. That said, I would not suggest doing both in the same year. I normally suggest starting with Expedition Earth, it is a little better for younger kiddos with more fun crafts, recipes, songs, and the like. The Road Trip contains a bit more memorization and handwriting work due to the state symbols, capitals, and major landmarks. So it's a little better to do that the following year when your student is a bit older.

Hi, we are going to be purchasing the expedition earth curriculum. I just saw that you say it is now a stand alone curriculum and we do not need to purchase the additional resources listed? Are there still any other resources that you recommend, or did you incorporate all of it into the curriculum already. Thanks, and thank you for this amazing curriculum.

Hi Jen, everything you need is listed in the teacher's manual under the resources section. You'll probably want a wall map or a globe at the very least just so you can show your kiddos where the countries are :) There are a few extra optional resources that we used and had fun with listed in there as well.

Do you have it marked in the teachers guide when to use the Animal Habitats book? Was just curious how you determined when to use which habitat? Also is there a breakdown for which pages I print on regular paper and which ones I need to print on card stock for the teachers manual & student workbook. And was wondering you say it is a year long so you do 36 plus weeks five days a week?
@erica_arndt
@erica_arndt 8 жыл бұрын
+Keri Hess Yes, it's listed in the daily lesson plans :) And there are printing instructions in the teacher's manual so you know what to print. The curriculum has 32 weeks of lessons plus a Christmas Around the World unit for the month of December.

@erica_arndt

It's 32 weeks and 5 days per week, but you can adjust it to fit your schedule as needed. Page count is: TM - 195, Student Workbook - 166, Animals - 99. You don't need to print the TM if you want to just open int on a computer. You would want to print 1 Student workbook per student and just one set of animal cards if you are making the animal wall.

I know you posted this awhile ago, but I love the example of Brazil and feel this would cover Geography very well for my third grader and I love how you include the crafts and recipes so I do not have to do that leg work. My question is: Your description says it has been updated. I just want to clarify; Does this mean we do not need to purchase any books? Is the information from the books incorporated in the updated program and this is why we do not need to purchase the books? Thank you!

There are a few bullet points for praying for a country, but otherwise there isn't anything specific. You do however learn about the religion for each country and it's culture while you're studying it.

I checked it out and it is the same thing I already have. In your video you suggest using A Trip Around The World and Another Trip Around The World, I do not see these in the list. Also I was actually asking for the extra resource books, if you had a quick reference list as to when we use the book and what part of the book we use so I can get everything ready ahead of time. For example,, if we are going to cook a meal on day 5 of week # 3 or make a book from the animal habitat on day 2 of week 20. Does that make sense what I'm asking? It would be great if you had a list like that so I don't have to read every lesson on every country before we even start. I just want to get as much done before we start as possible. Thanks so much, Keri

For His Glory No, we usually use different curriculum each year. I did use the Expedition Earth about 4 years ago when my middle child was in Prek, so we're going to repeat it again this year now that my youngest will be in 1st grade. But normally we choose new curriculum (usually based on grade level) each year. You can check my blog for tips on gathering, preparing, planning, curriculum, etc :)

@erica_arndt
@erica_arndt 8 жыл бұрын
If you plan to do both I normally suggest starting with Expedition Earth, it is a little better for younger kiddos with more fun crafts, recipes, songs, and the like. The Road Trip contains a bit more memorization and handwriting work due to the state symbols, capitals, and major landmarks. So it's a little better to do that the following year when your student is a bit older. If you're just going to do one, either will be fine for a first grader :)

+Jade Emeralds Hi! Yes, we're using that one still, it has some fun internet links with more fun information too! But really you can use any world encyclopedia you have, including the internet to gather more information. Most of what you need is really in the curriculum itself. The book is for more information on weather, climate, etc.

I was looking at the review cards and I don't have one for The Poles, did you create one? I'm not sure why I would not have it. Also, I figured out when to you some of the extra books, but do you actually reference The Animal Habitats book when you are supposed to do a project out of that book or is it something that you just use whenever you think it applies? Not sure if you seen my other message about the lapbooks, but was wondering if Expedition Earth only has the world lap book, which does not include a huge chunk of the work you do throughout the year. So I was wondering if you created different lap books for those or how you stored their work for later display and review? Thanks so much
@erica_arndt
@erica_arndt 8 жыл бұрын
+Keri Hess Hi Keri, do you have an older version of EE by chance? Because the poles is included (should be towards the end of the lessons), and the animal habitats are referred to in the lesson plans. The EE also comes with a world lapbook that you'll put a mini-book for each country you study in. But there are also animal mini-books, and worksheets for each country as well in the curriculum. There should be pictures and instructions for the world lapbook in your TM in the appendix area. Email me if you have any questions :)

I have the one that says revised. I just bought it a few months ago, the download version. I looked in the back with the other review cards and the last one I have pages 175-184 for the cards, the last review card is Oceania review. I did search through the entire teacher manual and found references for the books you used. I got the animal cards and copywork pages for them. I'm pretty sure I have the updated version, just not sure why I did not get the poles review cards. Maybe something happened in the download. I was not sure of your email address so that is why I responded on here. The teachers manual I have a total of 195 pages, the student book I have 166 pages, also received animal cards each 99 pages lined and unlined as well as a spine.
