The ancient Romans celebrated at the same time of year that we do for Christmas. For them the celebrations were based around the winter solstice and the god Saturn.
Due to the focus around Saturn the god of agriculture, the holiday was named Saturnalia.
Gift giving, singing and dancing were all part of the celebrations that started out as a single day but later expanded into a week long holiday.
During this holiday all work came to a halt, and workers and slaves were placed in a higher position where the masters would often serve them food and drink for a period of time.
Use with a Google Cardboard VR headset for an even more immersive experience.
