I went on a similar trip 4 years ago when I was 19. Flew in to Tokyo from Australia, toured Japan then hopped on a ship from Sakaiminato which took me to Vladivostok and from there I rode the Trans-Siberian to Moscow. The journey is just as amazing now as I am sure it was 74 years ago.

I envy you! While you were in Yokohama I was on a DDG out of Yokosuka in gunfire support in Vietnam (45 days out of every 60 in the war zone). In the spring of 1970 Vladivostok had an early thaw, and the Soviet fleet (in desperate need of scraping, sanding, and paint) headed for the warm waters of the Sea of Japan. My ship, the Waddell was ordered from the Tonkin Gulf to shadow well over 30 ships for a month or more. We were the only American ship. I'm sure we had a sub or two, but we never saw any. I was 20. I love Japan; the people are great, the country is clean and beautiful. We went to China last year, but when things clear up I'd like to take her to Osaka and Sasebo, and many other places. But, I'd love a train ride across Siberia.

Once I visited Las Vegas and Disney World in LA, and I found it jaw-dropping. "This place is awesome"...I said. I was young at that time. Now this video makes me want to visit the 'real world' outside of USA, where every old building has a history, the people there are proud of. A place where you are greeted by normal elegantly dressed friendly people and not by people wearing Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Disney Princess and Elvis costumes. I wish every American agrees with me.

Everywhere you go you see people with pride in their own country - imagine! I hope you'll get outa Boston for a while. I've always been curious of Russian culture. Me being American, I don't see Russians as enemies. The political bs can't determine how I should see and feel about another country or it's people. Experiencing the culture and it's people is the best way to appreciate and demonstrate that we are not that different. Most important of all. We all live on this planet called Earth. Having compassion, respect, love for one another and that we are all brothers and sisters. Peace to you all and God bless.

So I don't think I can do this trip unless somehow i could pick it up in Mongolia or Siberia area & that's actually what interests me. Russia no longer holds any interest to me due to the atrocities of those people who Embrace a government that Slaughters their neighbors. Sure you may say easier said than done but people are rebelling and they're being locked up and if everyone were as Brave as those people Putin would fall and the Russian people could regain their dignity and their sense of purpose and their sense of humanity

@@ladybug5859 Aaahh, yes, famous atrocities... from ukraine-made propaganda, i presume? Like famous "Nutella сhocolate Stealing" or "VIAGRA Raping"? (What is more horrific - how you westerners, believe all that absurd shit!) Or like even BUCHA MASSACRE?! (Which even UN and OBSE officials proved to be a fake propaganda by Ukraine Army) Bruh, stfu. Many coountries HAVE MORE atrocities, even the one - you living, or speaking by their language, you hypocrite. >>slaughter their neighbors >totally forget - how they attack us first(!) by White Phosphorus rocket (with USA markings) in Rostov Region >how Ukraine - officially said on MSC Conference (Nuclear International Conference basically), they "...gonna develop Dirty Nukes and use them against Russia" (I am not joking - video of that statement still live on KZfaq) >How Zelenskiy was want to demolish Neo-nazi official troops in Ukraine's Army, but now fully support them! Even - he is a jew! >You tottally forget how 8 DAMN YEARS(!) ukraine was raping and killin' east-ukraine children, just bcs they are "untermencs" - for Ukraine's army and neo-nazi (like AZOV). Don't believe me? Google "Alley of Little Angels" in Donetsk, you hypocrite slut. So, i ask you again - you dumbfuck, which atrocities WE FUCKING DID? How about - France modern Genocide and illegal operations in Africa (in 202X-years)? How about USA's list - of 240+ warcrimes and still counting? How much are Russia - having, huh?! How about Korean War, How about Nuke bombing in WW2? How about African stuff? How about operations like "Fast and Furios" (when CIA - was drugdealing and also smuggling the guns, google it - it's f_ckin real.)? How about Vietnam? How about Cuba Massacre and how USA illegally invaded Cuba? Funny irony - but Cuba Invasion, by USA, was similar to Russian reasons to enter Ukraine. But you very dumb enough - to understand that, yea? >>Hurr durr i gonna be arrested for my free mind >Just like in USA - for badmouth BLM, MeToo, and etc. >Also - for badmouth Hunter Biden (Son of USA President, btw) Laptop case (with """pdf""-stuff there). >BuT RuSsia are still bad, also a nazi hurr durr Bruh. Also, why where so much recently of Vlogs of American and England EXPAT's in Russia - on KZfaq? But you was saying - "russia are bad, putin are bad hurr durr", yea? Why when - many westerners - come to live permanently in our country? You was saying - we are bad, why then - they are living here?! So, nice, libtard. Whining - in comments, to Promo for just civilian express... How about - you gonna do that on AmTrak Channel on KZfaq? How fast - you gonna be shadowbanned?

The Volga river does not run through Moscow as the Moskva; the Moskva feeds into the Volga two rivers later. The Christ the Savior Cathedral is not the 1800’s original, but a 1990’s reconstruction. The original was demolished in the 1930’s for the Palace of the Soviets, which was never built and whose massive, unfinished foundations were converted to an outdoor, public swimming pool.

WHOA! This was a sharp contrast to my Trans-Siberian Express journey from Moscow to Irkutsk in 1986. 5 day journey. We didn't have swank accomodations: very basic but not uncomfortable. But there was "a shower" for our entire car and ONLY cold or tepid water. No fancy dining car! I don't remember going hungry, but the meals were bland and unremarkable. If I hadn't brought my own bottle of wine, there wouldn't have been a single drop available on the whole trip. It was an amazing once in a life time journey, and I took many notes. Would love to do the trip "in style." Visited Lake Baikal also!

I really enjoyed this video. Sure, I would like to have seen more content, but I don't know how much other people would be willing to watch, describing such a long journey. I really wish I were in a position to afford such a dream trip. Such amazing examples of architecture, culture, and nature... It saddens me to see comments here denigrating Russia, its people, and its governors. I am an American who has been a news junkie for over 50 years. I used to read at least 2 major newspapers per day, front to back (except most society and obituary pages). This I did when the papers made some attempt at journalistic integrity. Of course, some papers leaned left and others right, which is why I read more than one. For many of those years, Pravda was held up here as the ultimate example of state-sponsored propaganda. While communism or socialism never made sense to me as a long-term system of government or economics, still I often wished I could read and understand Russian so that I could see for myself what was being promulgated by the Soviet powers that were. When the Soviet Union broke up, I had hoped that our nation's leaders would breathe a sigh of relief and find joy in the prospects of working with Russia, a great nation with people of a long history of great strength and resilience instead of fearing the prospect of another world war. Part of me hesitated, though, remembering Eisenhower's warning about our own military-industrial complex. There is much money to be made off the fear of war. Unfortunately, many of my fellow Americans have not done their homework in this Internet age. Much of that is because our own media have become propagandists that would make Pravda's operatchiks proud. Many Americans (and other Westerners) conflate Russia with the Soviet Union. They do not know about America's involvement in the overthrow of the democratically elected Ukrainian government 9 years ago. They do not know that it is the Ukrainian government who has been murdering its own people in eastern Ukraine since 2014 and that those people voted for independence from Ukraine. They do not know that Putin stepped in simply to stop the attacks against these people. Most amazingly, they do not understand that Russian forces could simply have destroyed most of Ukraine and its people long ago. They do not see the Christian values that Putin expresses in some of his speeches -- the very values that have led him to show restraint, limiting the conflict to eastern Ukraine, protecting the people who have been attacked by the Ukrainian government -- their *own government* since 2014. By simply rolling into eastern Ukraine and taking a defensive posture, Putin has *limited* the casualties of innocent civilians in Ukraine. Unfortunately, Zelensky has persisted in attacking the vastly superior Russian forces. Unfortunately, our so-called "leaders" have funneled billions of dollars in cash and weapons to Zelensky and his cohorts -- much of which has gone unaccounted for as hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men -- and tens of thousands of Russian men -- have died in this pointless war. It is a sad state that we are in. We elect leaders based on the believability of their lies, then try to justify our poor choices by holding up their further lies as truths. As our wisest founding father, Benjamin Franklin, replied when asked by a concerned citizen what we had after our Constitutional Convention, he replied, " A republic -- for as long as you can keep it." He understood the draw of power and the people's willingness to grant that power to those who promised the most. Those willing to seek truth can see clearly how far our country has strayed from our Founding Fathers' intent. It seems Russia has undergone a revival. Please pray that we might, too, for the benefit of all mankind.
