I always grew up wanting to learn how to ski terrain parks. I decided to push past my fear and teach myself how to slide on a rail. Baby steps haha

Exactly, i used an insane amout of tries to do it. I get to go skeeing 2 weeks (vacation) a year, i used 3 days and i guess 15-20 tries, out of those i got 3 good ones. The rail was a bit wierd, but i thought it was the easiest. I now have to wait to next year which is sad but its aight.

Awesome stuff! i know it sounds and seems intimidating, but with rails and boxes, speed is gonna be your best friend! in my experience it is much easier to maintain balance on a rail when i have some speed behind it, if its too slow the balance becomes difficult and the rail will spit you off of either side. Keep it up man!
@TannerSG

Go for it bro, you got this! I just started learning it this month and it's honestly not that bad. Even when you slide out and fall (which you inevitably will), it's not a painful fall the vast majority of time. Dedicate a few hours to it and you should be able to get a few good slides on a fat tube by the end of the session!

This is solid progression for your first day. I remember that commitment being so scary the first time. Once you start to feel more comfortable you'll realize it's actually a lot easier to hit rails with more speed, the momentum keeps you balanced. Boxes are a great place to start learning tricks too, I learned swaps and britney/kfed on narrower boxes. Nice work man!

Ski straight in line with the rail, if it's a small one like these you can put it right in between your skis. Small pop at the start of the rail and commit to turning your hips to get your skis on. I'm watching the end of the rail the whole time, don't look down at your skis. If you can commit to this, you'll notice you will ride the rail under your arches and stay on all the way to the end. You can ride almost any rail this way, they just get more advanced and bigger but the idea is the same. Hopping on from the side is way harder, it's how you have to get on urban rails and such. Avoid that and take the variables out of it, go straight on and commit.
