its crazy that they still use the old and pass washing programs like my old electrolux form 2006 that i still have and still work for the rough in the garage, and we changed bearings 2 times (my sister bought the same model the year next and camed with sealed busket and she had to change all the basket after 3 years because bearings, 2 years ago broke the mother board and she trough away.) we changed shock absorbers 2 times and a lot of door handle me and my sister to...was the jet system series with the drum inclined and the first inverter version very stabile quiet and robus, but also we can only use cotton cycle for everything considering that is the only that do the long spin speed, and stronger 1200... but with time manager we menage the cycle. i see in the new electrolux and aeg the same programs, cotton sintetics never used with maximum 900 and short spin, delicate... curtains sport that is syntetics plus prewash and that's it so crazy in 2024. a lot of peoples and even the repair man told me that since 10 years the new series are not robus and heavy and stable like mine old series. and a lot complain that they shacking and banging crazy.

so in conclusion, do you think this steam function actually added something to this washing machine, or... do you after having owned this machine for a while now, think of it as more of a gimmick rather than an actual feature?

It's certainly more expensive than normal 1h run. Generating hot steam for 20 minutes takes more energy. It's more gimmick because you can only wash underwears, t shirts with this functions. If you use cotton, wool, if you wash jeans, dont. It will destroy ur clothes.
