Hi Chris Love your channel, been following your videos for a few years. I have a cloud switch (freepbx) on vultr and some users with the Clearly Anywhere app. When using LTE in poorer coverage the app doesn't connect whereas the cell phone will. I have been advised by technical that i need a STUN server; will this really make any difference?

Been with Crosstalk for months. As with anything it hasn't been flawless but they've done great work for us most of the time and saved us tons of money. Would definitely recommend over other VoIP providers. We are cloud hosted users. From personal experience, we do not like the Sangoma phones, we prefer Yealinks.

Chriss, you should add a no-display, dirt cheap, yet reliable model for places, which rarely if ever receive calls, but need to call out. Think service phone at remote monitoring station, or emergency phone in a factory.

Curious about CloudPBX. How is cloudPBX different from your hosted PBX solution? Does cloud PBX have self configuration and setup process with a diffwrent UI like ring central or it is freepbx?
@CrosstalkSolutions
@CrosstalkSolutions 3 жыл бұрын
Great questions - that can definitely be confusing, but there's a good explanation! Hosted PBX is an actually full FreePBX server hosted in the cloud. Full access to the GUI, root SSH, etc. It's features are much more than *most* SMB's need, and there is a learning curve when it comes to administration. Cloud PBX on the other hand is a cloud PBX *service* (more like offerings RingCentral, 8x8, Vonage, etc.) - much simpler to administer, not nearly as many features or custom-ability, but still meets the needs of the majority of small businesses out there, also typically more cost effective on the smaller end of the SMB. You have GUI access to the configuration, but no root/SSH access to the back end. The benefit of using Crosstalk for either of these solutions is that we will A) help you determine which is best for your organization in terms of pricing, features, and ease of use, and B) do all of the heavy lifting when it comes to the design, implementation, and cutover to the new system. Hope that helps!

Curious, why get a PBX system when something like Microsoft Teams supports native phones built into the app (Both on desktop and mobile).
@CrosstalkSolutions

Microsoft licensing is terribly expensive when compared to our solutions - plus the majority of businesses want hard phones, not mobile/desktop apps for their telecommunications.

(Note that this is not a criticism of Chris or Crosstalk or the business at all, just a reflection on the difference experienced by me in Sweden) While I still have a “classic” desk phone here at home (it is a cordless though) connected through an analog to VoIP converter to the fiber-connected router supplied by my broadband provider, I seldom if ever use it anymore. I still have it connected, more or less because I don’t pay any extra for VoIP. There used to be an app to “override” that VoIP connection from a mobile phone but it seems to have disappeared in the last year or so. You can still just have them alias that number to your mobile if you want to. At work I have not seen a desk phone for more than 10 years. I do know of some that were moving to VoIP on desktop phones in the 2000s and probably still uses it for security reasons on fully private networks, but in general, desktop phones do not exist here anymore and VoIP transition was skipped in favor of mobiles. I do know that the support team where I work use VoIP for shared lines/call queues, but that is all done using Windows software on a PC with a headset (coincidentally from the same provider as above). Personally, my work phone has been always been a mobile, apparently since 1997 or so because I remember the Nokia 2110i as the first one I had at work. So, in general, this informercial gave me déjà vu from 1999 or so…

This reflects your personal experiences in your country. I can tell you the opposite from Germany and my own 30 years of Telephone experience. A lot of companies still rely on desk phones and are slowly transitioning to softphones (if they do). Not everyone is a fan of softphones, given the trouble you can have with them.

@CrosstalkSolutions
@CrosstalkSolutions 3 жыл бұрын
Yes - I believe the original OEM is Htek. But - the real magic with these phones is in the zero-touch and Clearly Devices manager (free in FreePBX) - ClearlyIP is doing the most innovative work in the entire Open Source VoIP community. This is why I love those guys and stand behind their software and hardware.
@wiziek
@wiziek 3 жыл бұрын
@@CrosstalkSolutions I saw HTEK in few companies, some shops selling them even without branding just like HTEK. They seems to have some stuff about about autoprovisioning or broadsoft (which is now just Cisco after acqusition?), so maybe there is some custom software or features beside brandings for different partners/resellers.

FreePBX, I'm not even sure how this can possibly be described as open source these days, they have slowly ripped out most of the open source modules and replaced them with commercial ones. Fifteen years ago I was using FreePBX and it seems it had more truly open source features than it does now.
