In this tutorial, let us learn the Difference between Delete and Dissolve Activity in Primavera P6
As part of project scheduling, you might be feeling that some activities are no longer required whenever there is a change in the scope of work.
some users simply delete the unwanted activities, but by doing that the relationships will also be removed and the linked activities will then be open-ended.
So in this video, I will show you how to use the dissolve activities feature, which allows us to remove activities and bridge the gap in the logic.
Let's take a sample project and see how this works now.
I am creating a sample project now.
Let me add activities A-1, A-2, A-3, and A-4.
Link all these activities Finish to Start
Give durations as 4 days for 4 activities and schedule this project. You will see the Gantt chart like this with relationships.
Now, suppose if we want to nullify activity A-3 from the schedule.
If we directly delete activity A-3, see that the relationships will be broken with activity A-2 and activity A-4, which is not good practice and not recommended.
Now, let us dissolve activity A-3 by right-clicking and selecting the Dissolve option. Click Yes to confirm.
