Anytime! Figured it might be useful. Powdered is a good bit cheaper.

A tip for mixing the powdered AFR. for quicker more complete mix. I heat the RO/DI water in the microwave so it is warm to the touch but not boiling. Then I put the beaker on the stir plate and add the AFR power. The heated water will dissolve the mix more completely and faster. I mix my AFR in 1 liter portions as well and bottle any left over solution for later use. I have a nano tank as my main display tank. The 1600 gram container of AFR lasts me for quite a while dosing 10 ml of solution daily. I hope this helps someone with mixing the AFR.

Great video. Great quality and well explained. My process is the exact same. Curious if you ever considered keeping the AFR on the stir pad continuously. I find I have to shake my dosing container sometimes because the AFR settles.

I shake mine up periodically too, but your idea is pretty great. If not a continuous stir, maybe a once a day stir for like 60 seconds. Just to keep things suspended. I may try it!

Yeah it’s quite a bit cheaper! Lasts a dang long time if you get the big tub.

@@MikeLemming Love that little mixer. Always handy. But hell yes, Quantas are too nice. You see the quality of that power brick/driver? Good lord 😂 If a tornado hit, it would be the one thing left standing hahaha

@@kalamazoo_reefer haha for sure! Need to mount it but I’m digging the lights so far. Raised my par quite a bit so I need to ease into them.

They bumped my par so much that I had to run my Radions at 1% and ramp up from there. I let the Quantas carry most of the load with those lol. And now with the ReeFis, my par is like 500+ at the top of the scape, and I’m only running those at 25% strength. Wild. No coral in this house can complain about needing more light.

I have this stuff but I notice it doesn’t boost ph it is good to use with a nano tank though. Using this as an addition to kalk would be good

Yeah, no pH boost detectable for me. I run it in conjunction with Kalk on my main tank, for trace elements, and love it for that.

I find it mixes well without the stir pad. I do by hand. Just curious, why does everyone put on stir pad for hours?

Not sure how you’re doing it, but I’ve tried by hand, and it does not dissolve quickly. I set it on the stir pad for hours because it takes hours to fully dissolve. You’re using the same amount of scoops as me to make it?

@@kalamazoo_reefer well not completely by hand lol don’t laugh 😂 I stir by hand with a whisk for a few minutes then for about 5 minutes I use a n electric cake batter mixer lol. Still a tad cloudy after but I let it sit in a container overnight and find that it’s clear with no powder accumulated at bottom. How long does it take exactly to clear up on the pad for you?

Is this a known thing with AFR? Wouldn’t surprise me if it suppresses it a bit. I run kalkwasser on my two primary tanks, and their pH is way higher than my little nano.

@@kalamazoo_reefer yeah it 100% does its calcium formate. The product is great just really suppresses PH
