Hi all! This is a video aimed to help cognitive science students and everyone interested in a very exciting framework, first introduced by Varela, Thompson and Rosch in "The Embodied Mind" 1991 - the enactive approach.
With this video, I aim to elucidate its main pillars and discuss a chapter in "The Routledge Handbook of Embodied Cognition" (2014) written by Di Paolo and Thomson that touches on the topic.
This video is created for educational purposes only, all resources are cited at the end.

I appreciate the simplified way you've laid this out. I'm doing some writing in my field connecting the enactive approach to aesthetic experience. "Brought forth" is a really important way of framing that I'd been seeing and listening to you has helped to crystalize that more for me. Thank you

This educational material is awesome. I´ve been working in research from this approach for a couple years now, and I´ve found this very helpful to explain the principles of the enactive perspective in a simplified, yet specific way, and in just 15 minutes!. I will definetely recommend this. Thanks for your contribution :) !!

Hi Asena I like your video and found it helpful as a primer. You mention early in the video "we have already laid the history of cognitive science in the previous presentations ..." I couldn't find these presentations at your channel. Are they available elsewhere? Thanks in advance for any response.

Hi, Stephen! I'm glad you found the video informative. Unfortunately, the other presentations were given by my colleagues during a class. So, unfortunately, I can't share them. But if there's a topic that interests you particularly, maybe I can point you to some resources :)

Is the “Enactive” a fourth option in the philosophy of perception between direct realism, indirect realism (representational theory of mind) and idealism? Is the Enactive approach also similar to phenomenology?

Any work(s) that link enactivism with memory more specifically?

Hi! Yes, there are some interesting recent contributions. I'd recommend reading: 1. Fuchs, T. (2016). Embodied knowledge-embodied memory. In Analytic and Continental Philosophy (pp. 215-230). De Gruyter. 2. Brouillet, D. (2020). Enactive memory. Frontiers in psychology, 11, 114. 3. Caravà, M. (2020). An exploration into enactive forms of forgetting. Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences, 1-20.

@@balancingasena Great! Thanks. I'm working on social memory. I am sure these would be of help.
