Yeah there is the one mission mode that shows you the kara grab but it doesn't explain the hows/whys of it, and it certainly doesn't explain the true potential of everything and that is what this video is about! Once you learn this technique your Potemkin will be sliding across the screen in no time!

I like Potemkin because he’s real Strong and Big.

Here's some forbidden Potemkin tech. Naming yourself along the lines of "Don't Jump" allows you to roundstart Heatknuckle your opponent. After that it lets you roundstart kara Potbuster. Warning, this may cause a disconnect from your opponent if they play Chipp.

this technique is what helps give grapplers more depth than just 50/50s with the command grab mix, this game is so cool

I hit a kara buster on match start against another pot player and he immediately started teabagging to show respect. I teabagged back and we continued our match, but man that feeling of respect and validation might be the best thing I’ve ever experienced in a game, let alone a fighting game.

For anyone struggling on you can drum the buttons, middle finger kick, index punch, one after the other really fast.

Somehow I can do Makoto stand light kara cancel to command grab yet I struggle with Potemkin kara cancels

I play Strive very casually; I only do private matches with my brother who is very into fighters and some friends who share the casual entry-level enthusiasm I have. Strive was the first fighting game I bought on release because I was so excited for it. I was looking at Potemkin fights during the beta and I was SO hyped for him. Big beef gorilla playstyle is ingrained, and I've got a few combos down on him, and my Anti-Air play is decent. But until this video, landing the Buster has always been an "if i can do it" initiative. I know it's supposed to be the big draw, the GAME PLAN for any Potemkin, but it was fun just slapping people with 2S 2HS beeg combo. But now I have new resolve. I know now that the busta is all we live for. I gotta get on my grind to BUST because it has been prophesized to me that in this world, you're the buster or the busted.

Ah, so his kara comes after 6K! I knew kara command grab was a thing ever since getting Pot Bustered right at the start of a round, while we were the default distance apart, just wasn't sure what move allowed him to do this.

Had my video player set to 0.25 speed while watching videos of kara cancel inputs, opened this and it took me a few seconds to realise this wasn't just the world's longest "Hello and welcome" from Rooflemonger.

I love catching people with my Kara-cancelled Potemkin Buster, both as a mix-ups or combos! >:3 I also caught someone by surprise with a Kara-cancelled Forward Megafist. 🤜🤜

FOR ANYONE THAT FINdS THIS INPUT IMPOSSIBE: Literally thought this was impossible, but I found this technique has worked for me: ------- start by repeating the normal Buster Command but hit Kick/Punch at the same time. (the normal buster will come out) --------Keep repeating this motion a few times in a row to get the feel for it, hitting both buttons. --------Now after a few motions, change it to the normal input K>P. I found this actually helped me get this move off. Very difficult to do but practice makes perfect.

The way I lower my right thumb onto the buttons is like a slightly tilted board. The bend of my thumb presses kick, then the tip presses punch. Almost like I'm pressing them at the same time.

This is useful, thank you. I am a bit confused on the quarter-circle back kara cancels. On the mega-fist specifically, are the inputs right? Quarter-circle back and then forward + kick and punch pinked will gives kara-command grab every time. Am I missing a step?

Hey Rooflemonger, just wondering if you knew that you can combo into Pot Buster off of mega fist without counter hit? You just need to do it as soon as you land. Makes the CH close slash, far slash, megafist combo way more scary.

You can input forward forward in purple rc so after megafist, C.S in to Garuda, you don’t have to kara cancel pot buster. Which is way easier, what i usually do is hold forward during megafist, hit confirm and just tap and hold forward again in purple rc.

Kara Cancels haven’t heard that name in a long time. Instant ptsd from 3S Chun-Li even if I did Kara Raging Demons and Makoto Command Grabs

I can do it with Pot Buster and forward megafist pretty consistantly now but it wont work for me with backwards megafist or garuda impact like out of 20 tries it may work once or tries. Anyone got any tips?

Even the monsters I fought in 9F were not ready for Kara Buster’s range.

I play on pad and it's still very easy, i just slide my thumb from k to p when doing the potemkin buster and i can get round start command grabs with no issues, didn't try it with other special moves tho

I can't get this to come out for the life of me, not sure if I'm going to fast or what I'll get it like 1 out of 10 times, the slide tackle usually comes out everytime, but im pushing kick into punch so quick that it registers kick first then punch and kick

I’m finding kara canceling the Potemkin buster, forward mega fist, and heat knuckle challenging but doable but how the hell do you Kara cancel backwards mega fist and Garuda impact? I find the others easy because they usually end in some kinda forward motion but the Garuda impact and the backwards mega first require me to go quarter circle back and then hit forward light kick, idk how the hell I can fit the forward light into it

I want to ask something and i hop someone helps me so can i do a 360 motion and then forward K,P ? Dose it work

The one thing I wished the tutorial mission would give is some indication if you got the motion right but the punch was too delayed.... found hard to tell what I was doing wrong (which I THINK is this). This was more incentive to learn and get it right, tho, but it could be that the key travel time from playing in keyboard (always had a much much better time with kb compared to gamepads) is part of the thing.... oh well. needs practice =)

I'm so damn sad, I had to drop Potemkin just because my keyboard doesn't let me to have 2 keys placed side by side at the top and bottom to be pressed at the same time which makes kara canceling impossible :(

Good explanation and stuff, although why not enable the input display that shows the joystick and buttons in motion, rather than just the one that shows a history?
