The “Turbo” Jonsered refers to is the way that the air flow causes precleaning to occur with the air before it gets to the filter.

Yep, same as the Husqvarna air injection.

Yeah, I hate that I forgot to mention that. This also seems to mostly be a marketing technique. I believe the best filter setup should stick up out of the top cover. Cooler air, better flow, fewer particles in the air.

Jonsered saws are awesome. And the older models (510sp, 520sp, 525, 535 etc…) seems to deliver more power than rated. I own a 510sp, 525, cs2245, 2054turbo and a 2055w turbo. They’r awesome 🤩 In adittion I have a Stihl ms261c-m (2023), and a Hikoki/Metabo HP 36v battery chainsaw with 4/8ah battery. Delivers aprox 1440w og power (14,9m/s). Nice saw, and good explanation (just missed the cleaning part of the turbo system 😉, but people now know that there is no actual turbo😅)

I've recently got a 2015 Turbo for £60 which is nothing like these ones! I've got it into fairly good shape, it's a nice little saw. But no alleged 'turbo' on it apart from on the sticker. It seems to be the same as a Poulan 2250. I also have a 49SP but I screwed the welch plugs up and had to give up. No chain brake! But it was lovely when it ran. I'll mend it someday.

Greetings from BC, Canada. IO recently bought a Jonsered 2055 Turbo, they are very hard to find here. I am a big Jonsered Fan, they have served me very well. The 'turbo' idea was actually advertised as a method of cleaning sawdust out of the case more effectively. The 2055 Turbo series were the last saws totally made by Jonsered, their clamshell crank cases were a bit of an anomaly in the chainsaw world, some people really do not like the idea. Nevertheless these saws are well engineered. I like Husqvarnas, but I don't agree with the view that they are better than Jonsereds. I have a couple of Sachs Dolmars, the smaller one is a model 46, it has some kind of 'turbo' system with an extra air filter in the side of the case. My biggest jonsereds saw is an old model 90, a very nheavy saw which has brutal compression. I still own my original chainsaw which is a Jonsered 535, I bought it new in 1987 and it was my only saw for years, in its first 2 years all I cut with it was 30" diameter English Elm.To this day this saw has not broken down or worn out, although the pull start mechanism is beginning to fail now. Best Regards, WS

Hi! Novise is my middle name too 😆 And as you Jonsered is my favourite brand, even tough I don’t have a professional saw-user background or a need for a saw on a daily basis. Have a 2145 since new, and recent buy, a hefty 2095. Love’em both. Both in superb low-mile condition. But, I notice you prefer the inboard clutch system over outboard clutch. May I ask why? I only have user experience with outboard, but I have worked on many, including Stihl, and based on that, I prefer outboard. Why? Because it’s easier to keep clean (and I don’t like the locking clip on the Stihl), and I like the idea that the sprocket and therefore the load from the chain is closer to the shaft bearing.. You are more experienced than me obviously, so I don’t know if my theories hold water?? What say you? Great channel by the way, enjoy your videos 👍👍

I like an inboard clutch because it is easier to put bars and chains on and because it is easier to swap sprocket sizes. That's it really. 2095 is a bigggg saw! And nice.

Yes the idea was to keep the airfilter clean not add power to the engine and I believe that was a Poulan design was it not? My Husky 41 had that air injection and I read that saw was a Poulan design but don’t quote me on that.

Partner. Pretty sure it all started with Partner, but was half-baked, the Jonsered fully hashed it out and it then was shared across all Electrolux designs.

I worked in a turbo charger remanufacturing facility for about 1.5yrs until I figured out that it wasn’t my cup-o-tea. The way that they make the pressure that they do isn’t because of extremely tight clearance like 15-3O thousandths. They quit often have somewhere in the neighborhood of .080-.120”. What they do is spin at an INCREDIBLE RPM! 30 thousand plus is not unheard of. Mack brand turbos some times turn even faster, hence the reason that have earned the reputation for “blowing up”, or exploding from excessive RPM. THAT is why turbos work, ESPECIALLY when the size of the relationship of parts match. You also have to keep in mind the AFR or the Air Fuel Ratio. Lots of times the AFR is CAST into the exhaust side, BUT a good rebuilder knows what parts to mix and accomplish MANY things that aren’t supposed to occur. Hot side vs cold side (exhaust vs intake) means a lot. Volume is an excellent discussion and means many things that I only know a TINY amount compared to the man that I worked for!

Damn it man! Pretty knowledgeable of things . You sound like you legitimately understand the why and how these pieces work or are supposed to. I have no clue what parts are called or true functions . But I can do things without rhyme or reason and seems to work fine .....as far as I know . My brain doesn't absorb the meanings . Anyways you seem pretty handy

Too bad most of what you write is bullshit. First of all, its not 30 000 rpm, its 100-200 000. And second of all, its not AFR that`s cast into the turbine housing/exhaust side. AFR stands for Air fuel ratio and is a measurement of the air to fuel ratio in a given mixture of exhaust gasses. The turbine housing in a turbo is defined in A/R (area over radius), and AR is what`s cast in the exhaust side. Not AFR. The last is some what irrelevant.

Well I guess its marketing strategy but its the same as husqvarnas "air injection" and technically the flywheel is a turbine and it "forces air into the intake so in theory I guess they arent lying per se but its obviously horseshit and I doubt it gives any real advantage. However this makes me think about this whole "chainsaws woth turbos" wouldn't it be possible to machine a flywheel that resembles a turbine and use it as a procharger type deal and seal the airbox so there isnt any boost leakage. Anyway I'm rambling, gotta love the 2000 series jonsereds (I got a 2041) arguably the most common saw in Finland. Have a good one Boedy
@novicelumberjack
@novicelumberjack 2 жыл бұрын
It isn't a turbine. It is a centrifugal fan. The very word "turbine" is indicative of compression. It cannot compress and therefore it cannot "force" anything, it can only "direct". All just little tricks. But make no mistake...I love it and love that it says turbo on it. I think it's cool and can't wait to run it. I had a fella trying to tell me it was an actual turbo and that is why it revved so high. Someone had asked me to make a video about it a while back. I only wish I had remembered to talk about their claims of it spinning the dirt out of the air, but I forgot.

@@novicelumberjack well I got to say we are both a little wrong here since we are talking about impellers not turbines impeller = effects the flow of a fluid turbine = is effected by a flow of fluid. And and all "fans" go under the impeller category but I agree that that is very misleading. Felt a little stupid googling the definition of fan, rotor, impeller and turbine but gotta admit it was interesting and now I can be even more annoying at parties correcting people. But I cant believe people actually think that it has a real turbo in it.. and I have also heard someone mention that it cleans the air, but that does not compute in my head Ps. About that inboard clutch thing the older smaller jonsered 510 sp raket (semipro rocket) and the 450 are atleast outboard cluches but those are 80's saws. I built a version of your hammerhead muffler and that thing is so ridiculessly loud that it shakes the ground where I stand xd Keep the videos coming, love learning through your videos👍

You got the "turbo" thing wrong - and seemingly thats a deliberate humoristic marketing stunt from Jonsered. The "Turbo" feature is analoque to Husqvarna's equally weird "Air Injection" And what it does is blowing the airfilter and its housing clear of potentially air filter clugging sawdust.
