Glad I wasn't the only one who felt irrationally triggered about a throwaway line. (My personal peeve was when they mentioned ProtonDB, as if people still have to rigorously search for their games' compatibility--when I legit haven't found a game that didn't just work on Linux in the past couple of months, if not a year. *That one* I thought was a blow below the belt a bit.)

Well said. I can relate as I felt the same when I first switched to Linux, but these days I can't understand how people tolerate going to a website, hunting for a download link and then installing something using a different broken install wizard every time. Not to mention the security issues associated with installing some crap you just downloaded from somewhere. Having users used to such a terrible system makes it far too easy for malware to spread.

Ok for an actual comment of substance, not to sure if you know this but windows actually does have a package manager of their own....it unfortunately has never been really pushed or made known to the user experience.

It's super handy having a flash with portable Linux on to fix Windows when it implodes every six months or so. It's not for everyone for daily use, but it can be useful for anyone in cases like this.

Good rant :) I'd only have one point against this, because there are some programs which are not in the repos. Then it is a bit harder than on Windows. But most programs are usually there.

I think that software that doesnt update on windows is the software developers fault honestly because i have software that does update without reinstalling it.

Other than my bias toward using Linux, Steam Deck offers phenomenal control options in software and hardware as well as being able to adjust several performance features through the interface itself. Glad there's more competition, but I'd rather wait for Valve's next version.

I think the ally looks really good, too many issues with windows though, will look at what it's like running a linux OS and then will probably pick one up if it ends up being reviewed well.
