Trails of California

Жыл бұрын

Come along for the ride with me as I spend a day riding the full "Lake Perris Loop" for the first time! Nestled within a CA state park is the dam that sits atop the cities of Perris and Moreno Valley, Lake Perris. The 9-10 Mile Class I bike path that wraps around the lake is a stunning example of cycling within Southern California and a true hidden gem.
Be aware that there's a $10 entry fee to enter the park!
Thanks for watching!

Entrance into Lake Perris is free for bicycles but any motor vehicle you do pay a fee. So, you can enter the park if you are riding your bike through entrance. The mountains that you pointed out are the San Bernardino mountain range. To the east are the San Jacinto range. You are able to get a beautiful panoramic view of all three mountain ranges, including San Gabriel mountains, if you climb and get to the top of Terri Peak which is situated to the NW of Lake Perris. A few weeks after Spring rains is the best time in that wildflowers start to bloom and it is not hot...plus the skies are clear and you can see for miles.

Thank you Andrew and TOSC. That looks like a very scenic trail. The drone shots looked good to me, dunno if I noticed any difference from your previous drone shots though. Some feedback from me - a wide scale map showing the locations of the trails you are reviewing would be helpful to med, as I don't know where this area is. I think you used to include such maps in some previous videos? I look forward to your future vlogs. - Bill

I try to keep the vlogs pretty in line with whatever I film on the day. Without too many flashy graphics etc. But a quick map overlay makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the feedback!

I wasn't aware that there was a multi use path at Lake Perris. It doesn't seem to be shown on the map for the park. I guess if you went both ways on the loop you could get in about a 20 mile ride? I'll try it out next spring.
@TrailsofCalifornia
@TrailsofCalifornia Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It’s not outright marked on google. Maybe because it’s part of a gated CA park? I found out about it through this channels viewers! It’s one of the nicest rides I’ve been on anywhere. And yes, you can make as many laps as you want. 2 full laps will be approx. 20 miles! Have fun!
@johnburwell6609

I did it a couple weeks ago both ways. It was nice and green and the lake is very full. Going back in a week or so again before it gets to hot. On a weekday the park is nearly empty.

@@TrailsofCalifornia you missed it by 25 ft the big boulder behind you where you take your break has one along with a little info sign. You can also check out a rock carving just past the bernasconi gates in the shade of the trees on the right. Also one way to avoid the 10$ fee is to check out a state park pass from your local riverside county library for free .

Did you replace your stolen bike?
@TrailsofCalifornia
@TrailsofCalifornia Жыл бұрын
Have not replace the bike that was stolen last year :/ Fortunately, the bike I used in this video is now my primary road bike. Not stolen. I would hate to lose this bike. The one that was stolen wasn't quite as nice but was sentimental to me. It was the original bike that inspired me to start this channel. Well, I had to move on! 🥲

There’s a few “spots” off the main road as before the gate. You can ride in for free.
