Stehekin, Washington is located on the edge of the North Cascades National Park, on the north-end of Lake Chelan, and is almost literally cut off from the rest of world, only accessible by boat, air, or a hefty hike. Join along as we explore what makes this remote village such a popular summer destination, and what life is like on the far end of the lake where's more wildlife than human-life. My daughter worked for the lodge and her boyfriend worked for the general store for the 2019 season. She very much enjoyed her time there

I LIVED IN PLAIN WA FOR 17 YEARS, AND WENT TO STEHEKIN ONLY 3 TIMES BUT I HAVE BEAUTIFUL MEMORYS OF MY VISITS. WISH I COULD HAVE LIVED THERE. THE PIONEER IN ME LOVES THAT KIND OF LIFE. EVERYBODY SHOULD SEE WHAT THERE MISSING BY LIVING IN THE CITIES.

What if the current residents of Stehekin do not want you ? and there will be lot more people like you who will want to do the same. The 100 people who live there right now may not want increased population.

They have really build up the are.I help at Buckner apple orchards. Glad they kept it simple. You need this to get away from modern life.

exactly!! sometimes I wish that all the cell towers would go down except for 9-1-1 service just to see what happens to people and how many would end up inside a mental institution after 30 days of no smart phone? Lol's

One question for stehekin residents. Myself and a friend have intentions to visit this year and perhaps stay the winter there if possible. Both of us are willing to help out volunteer-wise and work. We are also interested in hotshots/fire crew positions and I am a tree climber by trade but know my way around many handyman jobs. We are both good natured caring people that met recently on the job and we are two pees in a pod. The question is what are the chances we could hang out for the winter especially if we can earn our way somehow including being helpful around town?

Oh my Lord!!!...... I wish I lived here. I've wanted too for like 20 or 30 years. Now I know it's probably impossible, being everyone and their dog is out and about now. I regret telling all my freinds to get outdoors. Now they have and it has f*cked it up for we who live out here

No cell service? So no internet and TV I assume? It would be fun to visit but live without all those things would be miserable lol. Its like they went back in time.

I wonder if they have internet access and, if so, is it just the slow, crappy and expensive satellite dish variety? And how far to the nearest medical facility?
