I've had a beach house in Wells my entire life. The town of Wells is pretty rural and blue collar, but Wells Beach is nice. What I can tell you is the weather is shitty in the winter because it's freezing and the town is empty. It's very much a summer town only. It can't be understated how slow-paced life is there, I couldn't live there year-round personally. It's a wonderful place for a beach house though! My mom is active on all of the local Facebook groups and there is a lot of tension between the year-round residents and the summer residents. The beach houses have been in families for a century and rarely go up for sale because they are all passed down to the next generation. I grew up with the same neighbors in every single house on my street and my mother grew up with their parents, that's how it is.
