These people were way ahead of there time. This home is gorgeous and can totally be restored. I'm sad to hear its going to be torn down.

I’m a preservationist so nothing gets me more fired up than beautiful places like this getting demolished. This home is absolutely gorgeous. I swear appliances made back then were way better and heavy duty compared to the junk we have now. Oh to have grown up in the 70’s 😫

It's mind boggling that no one jumped on this house. Contemporary Mid-Century is all the rage with this style of architecture going for bundles of bucks. What a gem this is...I'd kill for that console alone & that 6 legged 9 foot sofa...OMG. I wish somebody could save this treasure!

I could totally see this home being renovated. I could see it having a second life as a living space/recording space for musical artists. With all the real wood the acoustics must be amazing. If I was a rich producer I would definitely look into it.

The wood and stone work in that house was beautiful. But that pool room... EPIC!! Can you imagine laying back on a float, chill music playing and just staring at that ceiling? I'd be lost in thought for hours. lol Glad that you got to get footage before it's demolished.

For those curious about details: This is the Milton Gilbert House by architect Norman Jaffe, 1976 - 11 Autumn Terrace, Alpine NJ. Sold in 2003 to Canfield Enterprises, which also owned the land next door. Abandoned for about a decade. Sold in 2022 to 11 Autumn Terrace LLC. Tragically, instead of being renovated, it will be destroyed in 2023 and a new house built on the site.

I don't think this is being torn down. Looking at the most recent satellite view of it, the windows have been restored and the garden has been cut and made basically back to normal. It seems the new owners are restoring it.

I cannot believe that a buyer would not want to purchase and keep the house. AMAZING find and video, guys! This house inspires me so much that I will save your video for my renovation inspiration. Imagine the styling and furniture from the 70's. Imagine some Mel Torme tracks being played on that sound system as you entertain your friends with cocktails and canapes.OMG - this is a masterpiece. Nothing in this home is of inferior quality...every detail is truly designed ...as someone trained in Architecture,I can appteciate the work in all aspects from design,to specifications and to construction...one of the most beautiful 70s mansions I've seen on exploration channels..great explore..thanks So sorry to think it will be torn down and probably some typical homes to replace it...

At 9:38 that room was for formal dining and the cupboards were for serving dishes and china. The area you think is for a TV was for art and buffet service. I grew up in these types of homes and it is a real shame this will be destroyed. The clothing was just tossed there and unless it was table clothes or napkins it wasn't kept there. I hope someone will be salvaging everything worth taking in this house. Even the wood where possible. Just the sound the hinges made closing up the stereo cabinet say quality.

I love 70s architecture so much from the beginning of the decade to the end. I was born in '76 and can still remember a bit of the late 70s designs changing into the early 80s. Lots of brown and orange for sure, but everything looked so good. It was so great to experience and much better than the drab, plain, lifeless desgins and colors that we have today. If I ever get a house I'm going to decorate it in early to mid 70s with a lot of brown, orange, yellow, green and red. Even with vintage appliances, lighting and shag carpeting. And I'm going to have an early 70s station wagon to go with it. Who here remembers the 70s and enjoys the designs too?

Whoever designed it, was a person with excellent taste. It is an architectural masterpiece. The house is among the most beautiful he has ever seen. The decor, however, is tacky. It seems that the last owners were not the ones who built it. Very different tastes. Lots of games for children, but no bedroom for them. Very strange, disturbing.. Beautiful exploration! Beautiful woodwork throughout and I love the natural stone walls. Just a note: it looked like the closets were lined with cedar. Cedar wood was commonly used to repel moths and their larvae from destroying wool garments. My grandparents had a cedar lined closet for this very purpose.

Absolutely AMAZING with some semi vintage masterpieces, which would be foolish to demolish, never to be seen in such original form again. Detail and thought with such craftsmanship throughout is rare to see and I thank you for sharing this with us. I'm intrigued to know about the Family now. Who they were? Why they left and where they are living now. If this orignal home is anything to go by, I can imagine their next one is incredible! Just wow!

Crazy that a place as nice as that ended up being abandoned - you figure someone would have jumped on it. Such a shame to see it rot away like that.

What a beautiful retro home. The living room with all the natural lighting, the bar and the drop down sitting area are so cozy. The master bathroom and bedroom are just WoW!! This place gives me a very heavy feeling of nostalgia!! Born in 70 seeing a house w 60-s 70-s vibe really makes me wish I could have grown up in that house & had a blast!! Thank you for sharing I think that house is fascinating!!! Gives me all kinds of feelings!!

Those weren't records, they were Laser Discs. They were scattered and broken all over in the hallway to the pool. Laser Disc players were more popular in Japan then here overall, especially due to Karaoke, hence all the karaoke discs. Kinda hard to do Karaoke on vinyl, they don't do video too well. That stereo setup was typical 70's Hifi, though probably a fairly expensive one for its time. They just had a custom cabinet made to hold it all and built in the speakers on the ends. The stereo tuner is just a typical cabinet kind, hung down in there by it's faceplate to save space. Ditto for the turntable. Tapedeck was probably a very early one. It's pretty obvious that the place had a significant remodel in the late 80's/early 90's, then probably another one in the early 2000s judging by the decor. There's really not a lot of the 70's left in it other than the kitchen appliances and that sound system. Still a neat house. The sink in the office or whatever that room had been was part of another bar. Would have had all your liquor and glasses up on those glass shelves. The thing in the garage was a fooseball table.

This is one of the best. I wouldn't even refurbish a 70s house like this. Looks terrific. Guy for scale in the pool was a good call, didn't see it was that big. Shame about not filming the ceiling above that little bathroom window, I got the idea there was a window (for ventilation?) up there. Would be a smart move. Also did you notice how these three upper deck reclined seats are for sunbathing? This house has a really smart designer. Calendars look Indonesian, like the interior. Only these people had extra good taste. Those glass faucet orbs are mental. The faucets seem to swans rather than geese. Absolutely love the video, keep it up man.

This house is absolutely amazing! I could imagine it filled with furniture, people and love.

The stone work in this home is incredible. The marble work in the bathrooms. Marble even clads the ceilings!!

The fence around it does kind of say demo, but the fact that there are boards on the windows seems like they are trying to save it. I did this house a few months ago. It was a fun explore. Apparently as of last year it had full power. When i tried to do it around that time, there was a car sitting in the driveway with someone in it when we went at night. Super sketchy, so we left.

The house has a timeless beautiful design. It is worth to keep this mansion.

Those where not all vinyl records. I spotted a shiny side, so probably laserdisc. those were some of the most expensive media ever made. Also seeing the petronas towers on that calendar makes me think they were Malysian. The Newspapers seem to be in Mandarin which is also spoken in Malaysia. I found out via Wikipedia that there are quite a few Mandarin written American newspapers, and that list didn't include the New York Times, which I later found out also has a Mandarin translation. The game in the garage is called Kicker or Foosball.

It is just so sad that it is/ was going to be torn down…. This exploration you did gave me chills just imagining the get togethers and how full of life the home once was. Regardless of the vandals and the minor water damage, this could’ve been restored and put on the market. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case. But this was truly a beautiful place.

It upsets me so much that anyone would tear that place down. It's a gorgeous place and I feel like it could be modernized while maintaining the original feel. That's the state of the market though, the lot is all anyone cares about. What a shame. After watching the whole video, I'm not sure I've ever watched an urbex video that made me want to cry. That wood is so beautiful that I just can't comprehend how you could tear it down. I'm literally in tears.

Who in his/her right mind would demolish a beautiful place like that? If I had the money for it I would have bought it and just do a renovation keeping much original, this definitely looks like a dream home.

It looks like something Frank Loyd Wright would design all the windows beautiful, I never will understand why people feel the need to vandalize property it’s really disgusting, no reason for it whatsoever. The beautiful wood work ,stone work just stunning! The pool is amazing, the atrium where the plants were could have been a bird sanctuary.

Thanks for doing this explore for all of us to see, so gut wrenching to hear that the place is going to be torn down. That's an example of architecture that is being lost and done so well. The place has "good bones". The soccer game thing is "foosball". The record things you found are actually "Laser Discs", something that pre-dated DVDs. Their data storage was similar to a CD, so the amount of video storage was limited hence their large size. Also most movies you had to actually flip the disc halfway through (they were 2 sided like a record) they were heavy and really really susceptible to finger prints. Even some longer movies could be 2 discs! Also, great audio tracks you guys picked for the b-roll!

I appreciate the respect you show the home. There isn't much that i would change about that house, honestly. Maybe updating one of the bathrooms a bit, but nothing crazy. Absolutely beautiful.

I typically like traditional architecture more than modern architecture, but this house is an example of modern architecture that I like just as much as traditional architecture. The architect of this house created a modern masterpiece. This is a beautiful, well built, well designed 1970s modern style house that makes perfect use of stone, wood, and windows. This house seems to have all of the positive attributes of 1970s architecture with none of the negative. The pool room is more impressive than the living room in terms of scale, but I would spend more time hanging out in the living room as it has a cozier atmosphere. It’s a waste and shame that this house will be torn down. It’s impressive that the former inhabitants had so many records from the mid-1990s as records were hard to come by then. Records had largely been replaced by CDs and cassettes at that point and were not yet cool in a retro sense as they are now.

I would love if you could track down the family who lived here and ask them if they would be interviewed to share what it was like living here. It's absolutely gorgeoussss

That game table is Foosball. And thank you for being so respectful. That place was most likely built in the mid 70's by magnificent master carpenters and stone masons. And the massive glass panels! Stunningly beautiful. Those craftsmen are very hard to find today. The knowledge has just disappeared. Hard to believe there's not much more water and sun damage. The globe light fixtures and gold bathroom fixtures throughout the house are definitely 80's. To me, the core of the house, the entertainment spaces seems to have been been the original portion of the structure with several of the bedrooms and smaller hallways etc, added later. Just going by the building materials used. But that place is/was truly incredible. And you are so right, it's such a sad thing for a house with so much beauty and artisan quality to be demolished. And you are right about the seasons too. I lived in a panoramic house and being in rooms with so much glass surrounding you even from the roof, you feel as if you are in one gigantic snowglobe in the winter! You have a great imagination!

And, the worst part is, they are going to tear that apart and bring it up to modern standards. But if I had it I would return it to its former glory. Because that was such a cool time in history. And I love all that woodwork and all those angles. I would love to have it in its current configuration restored

This home is beautiful, and honestly with a little modernization. It could still be very contemporary, even now. I also wanted to point out that I’m very proud that you noticed. It was a bidet this time and not a second toilet but those weren’t vinyls they were laser disc just for the next video. :)

There are soooo many materials in this home that could be reclaimed. All that amazing wood. Those closets are all cedar and the hardwood floors would come right up. You cant get wood like that anymore unless its reclaimed. I really would be petitioning the current owners to let me come in and take any of the materials for reclaim purposes before it was demolished! That is to say nothing of the amazing light fixtures that would sell on the secondary vintage market. I really hope someone is going to do that.
