Gun Hazard is the follow up to the incredible Front Mission RPG on the Super Famicom. It was an attempt to capitalize on the name while the proper sequel was being developed. It carries over the Wanzer concept and some of the imagery and narrative feel of Front Mission 1, along with Amano’s character illustrations, but is a side story within the larger Front Mission universe.
It brings really great action rpg gameplay and incredible visuals and music.

Just watched your Front Mission 1 video AGAIN last night, thank you for doing justice to a game I like a lot. I coincidentally just restarted playing Gun Hazard last night too (I’ve never finished it) so I’ll be avoiding spoilers in this one for now. Again though, thank you for talking about these games in an analytical, non-reductionist way. I keep recommending the first video to people so that they’ll play the first game!

God I love how the main theme of the game is just straight up the Shinra HQ theme, I strongly believe that Gun Hazard uses the original plot beats from the FF7 SFC development cycle before it moved to the PS1. In the original FF7, Cloud was a detective in New York chasing leads on the alien Jenova across the world. Gun Hazard, Chrono Trigger, Parasite Eve and FF8 are the results of that development cycle, with Gun Hazard releasing 1 year prior to 7.

I used to play this game so much as a kid on emulators back in the day and I had NO IDEA this was a front mission game! that's awesome :D great coverage on this title

There are a lot of story elements that are similar to Gundam 00 anime series which came out years later. Especially Gundam 00's plot point of the Solar Wars which isn't too different than the story in this game but the elevator is actually completed and functional in Gundam 00.

I had no idea that was a thing! I will look into it. I only briefly played ASV/Cybernator for this video but absolutely want to give it more time.

@@theretrospectivegamer it's honestly a great remaster/re-release. M2 did it so you know it's good. Completely re-translated, uncut, QOL improvements, looks and sounds great on a modern TV. They also translated the original japanese manual, guide and CD booklet, tons of gallery images, interviews, even a master playthrough and the ability to record your own. The guide itself has so much lore and story elements in it. It's a really great release that breathes new life into the game. I just bought it like 2 weeks ago and I've been loving it.

I just played this for the first time on the retroid pocket 3 I got for christmas and couldn't stop playing it until i finished it. These squaresoft classics are like ps1 games onky they've aged better lol

*I LOVED CYNERNATOR* as a kid. I can't staye how mecha in general influenced me then and I'm*HeartBroken* we didn't get this game here in the States. I've seen the endings multiple times, done machine gun-only runs, but never speed runs because I savored every second of Cybernator. This would have been the ONE game I would have worn out systems on just to play it. A side-scrolling action-adventure RPG with tactical elements and a Deep story? Sign Me UP! Japan, you made a Major mistake not releasing it here in America! Stop doing that crap!!! What?? You don't like our money? You don't want to share your best achieblvements with the WORLD??? WTAF IS WRONG WITH YOU???!!!
