On our last Scottish adventure we stayed in a cosy wooden cabin in the Scottish Highlands (near Strontium and Loch Sunart), where the mountains meet the sea. We hiked along a cliff to a small tidal island to explore Castle Tioram, the remains of a fortress built around the 14th century.
This is the wooden cabin we stayed at:

So beautiful! You asked how do we feel about this? It is sad that people are still fighting over this castle, in the meantime it is going into ruin! The present owner wanted to restore it and make it livable....why does the Historical Scotland say no to this? It is a shame that this piece of history will eventually fall into the water and be no more. Thank you for sharing this story.

Thank you for these wonderful videos. They are wonderfully and professionally done. They inspire me to visit Scotland. Most of all, you have a unique perspective on how to present what you see. Which, I believe is a rare quality. Please send or publish more videos of your travels. I am one voice of encouragement. But I know others will appreciate what you see, and record, and publish for us to imagine to be there.

Lovely video Alexandra, beautifully shot and narrated. Gorgeous. I too have visited castle Tioram but it was many years ago. I found it to be a hauntingly beautiful place full of mysterious energy and sadness. As with so many of these ruins the idea that they belong to some rich family and not the country of Scotland and her people is such a sad commentary. The ruins should be allowed to fall back into the earth whilst still letting people come to visit, to learn and to perhaps realize that this kind of privatization of a landscape that is so beautiful, raw and inspiring should never again be allowed.

As a new subber to your channel and commenting from Nz, I find it fascinating. I have visited Uk and visited one castle site, which I believe was part of the Templar Knights regime; only the moat remains; as the whole thing was burned to the ground. I've also visited one other castle and Creake Abbey, now a ruin. You have 3 choices I believe. 1. Rebuild and/or strengthen it. (Very expensive) 2. Knock it down.. 3. Or let Mother Nature do what she's been doing for many thousands of years, reclaim ownership of the land. And in the meantime, the "children" waste time, and fight over what they're going to do with it. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Take care and atb from down here in Nz.

I don't care how oppressive some pre-industrial lord or lady was. They may have bad asterisks beside their names, for sure. But the survivors of the future will put the asterisk "complicit in destroying the planet" after our names.
