Hi Lads, once again you have excelled yourselves! Back in the 1990s I was the Depot Manager for Wimpey Waste and we had the waste collection contract for the Ardeer complex which is a massive site. One of the very special and unique factors of Ardeer was that they were as self sufficient as possible hence the power station but also all waste from the site stayed on site as they also had there own internal Waste Landfill facility. On a couple of occasions they even managed to set fire to the landfill as one of the departments had accidently thrown out some chemicals which ignited once in contact with water in the landfill. This was dealt with their own internal Fire Service. This was one amazing place in its day and so glad you have featured it. Thanks

Well that makes me feel bloody ancient. That "dated control room" @ 00:48, we worked on those control cabinets when I was an apprentice at Bauteil Engineering in Thronliebank. Crazy to think those were high tech state of the art at the time and had less processing power than your average laptop these days.

Thanks for that. I worked as an apprentice contractor in there in the early 90s. It was like a small town, it even had a narrow gauge railway. A lot of it had been mothballed and divided up into small industrial estates by then. Ironically I was fitting security cameras to keep the likes of yourselves 😂😂😂. A word of warning, all the white stuff around the pipework is asbestos. That building is a death trap and will be very costly to decommission and cleanup. All the best.

You mentioned a "busbar zone" in your excellent video and weren't sure what it meant. A bus bar is an electrical term which means a common electrical rail. For example a "neutral" busbar is a common electrical (usually copper) bar to which neutral circuits are connected. (Usually bolted to. )

I was a senior operator in the Ardeer power plant .Sad to see it in such a state. Word of warning its packed full of asbestos especially in the basement area and lots of it is exposed .So I noticed you were not wearing dust protection so you probably were exposed to some nasty stuff .Best of luck.

My grandfather was an industrial chemist and was the manager of the nylon plant and came here in the 1960's to live in the area and worked there until he retired in the early 1980's

Was there a couple of weeks ago to repair a machine the demolition team were using, they were removing some unsafe walkways and steelwork. The place is also riddled with asbestos, the main reason it was sealed up and hasn't been demolished, which has been disturbed by metal thieves and lies in the dust on the floor and is visible in the air in some of your shots. In my job I'm lucky to get access to many places like this but a lot are far too risky to enter without the proper ppe. That power station is probably one of the most dangerous places you could've picked to explore. We decided against exploring it a few years ago before it was sealed off as it was too risky even then. There are hundreds of abandoned buildings there but be careful as there are flooded cellars that you will not get out of if you fall in. @14:40 is the gantry they were cutting when I was on site as it was badly weakened and ready to fall. You are 80ft up there.

The building is better sealed up now. I found a way in. No way of getting up high though, the internal staircases have been cut down. I trod on some parts on the floor and they crumbled underneath me, like what you show at 13:06. I was on my own though, too risky to climb. I think the metal condition is worsening quickly.

Despite the extensive damage, this place looked amazing. It's crazy the contrast you see sometimes, almost perfectly preserved gems surrounded by decay. Covered this place perfectly as usual! I have to say, I enjoy the use of POV shots btw. Hope you can find a way to include more!
