A few days before we arrived in Ecuador, the State of Emergency declared by President Noboa in January (due to the security crisis) ended. A few days after we arrived in Ecuador, President Noboa declared a new State of Emergency due to an energy crisis. With rolling electricity blackouts in effect to ration the limited power supply, we headed out to explore the city and see what was going on. Along the way, we learned more about the situation and what was the cause of the blackouts. Come along and find out!
