Dead Rising might be an amazing game, but a physics simulator is it NOT. Let's try to make it one....

Help. This is most liked as far as I can see and I never get a break from this comment, why is everyone threatening my Tuesday??? I apologize to everyone that disagrees with me, I am an innocent bystander with no intention of troubling those who felt they needed to prove me wrong. I simply stated something I felt StipO would be capable of, considering he has a lot of power over the game he admires most. It's a beautiful relationship between him and the game. So, I thought, maybe he truly is capable of having much creative freedom. He has the game in his palms, and he does what one would never expect him to do to such a masterpiece of a game. He knows almost as much of the game as the devs do, at this point.

What is even more bonkers, is the zombie limit is actually quite insane, it's not the engine that starts to fail, but rather the becoming ancient hardware of the 360 was its limitation. I have a video on my channel demonstrating 950 zombies on screen with no frame rate drops at all on a i9-9900k. It makes me wonder what the real limit of zombies on screen at once could be if I had the patience to spam a zombie in with the Watchdog trainer.

One thing that I dont think you have touched on yet is the fort building. Whe. Dead rising first came out there were a lot of "heres my fort" videos where people would barricade stores like jills sandwitch and the food court bar areas. I think that would be a great topic to talk about because I remember building forts in this game when it first came out and having a blast. Youre able to expand on it with this engine editing and maybe some wild super fort in the park is doable now

This channel brings me back. I still remember playing it when I was 5 years old for the first time. I didn't like the game becuase I thought it was to complex and hard since I couldn't beat adam after bairly beating carlito. I came back to the game when I was about 10 after seeing the trailer for deadrising 2. Good thing I went back. I learned the game better after knowing about more games. and the raging I had trying to beat bosses since I didn't know about the manquin torso or adams chainsaw. I was so hooked in with the story. I still remember the first time I got ending A. So emerged. Seeing everyone die like Dr.Barnaby carlito brad jessy. It was amazing. I remember when I walked through the mall with all the zombies killed at the end of the game hearing the music in the backround as I rode over the bodys with the skateboard. The most memorable part though is when you think the hell hole of an in-game expiriance is over and you reflect on the 72 in game hours. All the bosses you killed and all the survivors you saved and getting pissed off at otis with silence since all the zombies are dead. At the end of it though you see dave and think your saved but no he crashes and you at that moment are interonnected with frank and the feeling of hopelessness as the credits roll. Thats the best ending to any game ever and is one of the many reasons deadrising is and will forever be my favorite game.

I'm pretty sure the reason you fall through the roof and the bike doesn't is because it's set up so only prop entities can't pass, this is because you can throw objects up high up (and the bike is obviously classed as one of these objects), but it's impossible to reach the roof on foot, there for the ceiling does not need to stop the player from falling through. I'd be interested to see if this works both ways, my hypothesis is that as the player (without a vehicle), you'll just clip through the ceiling no questions asked, and with a vehicle you'll smash your head off the ceiling. I'm not sure how much this effects load but it must do a little. The hair going missing is an interesting one though, obviously it's a different vertex group on the model and is probably set up with its own texture etc, but i'm wondering why it chose the hair of all things:'D

Man, I should do an analysis video on this video because there is so much code that I'm just reconstructing in my head. It's especially cool since the game was made during a time where the resources were a lot scarcer and they needed to think a lot more about how they went about things. For instance, the car only being available in certain locations. That's a big one because they purposely limit the amount of objects for collisions. Additionally, spawning items inside other items is a velocity nightmare because if there is no "path" to go immediately, it has to choose one or else they get stuck and you would see a lot of zombies inside each other, possibly walking at the combined speed of them both. Instead, they specifically wrote the engine to accommodate for this, presumably by increasing the velocity of one rather than both. It's essentially looping the same increase in velocity for an object, infinitely, which is why you get cars launching out of each other. If you had a higher frame rate in that situation, it would have launched even further. Nonetheless, cool video.

I think the reason the hair disappears could be that the hair in the game is rendered as an FX, and when the propane tanks explode they play too many explosion FX's, causing the game to hit the FX limit and making the hair unable to render until the explosions are gone.

0:30 When i saw that, it reminded me to Saints Row 2006... Man, i wish they make Saints Row for current ports and PC. I'm glad Dead Rising got PC version, the stuttering issues and fps is unbelievable on 360. Yeah this is off topic but why i'm mentioning this is because both of my favorite games were released in 2006. As long it is well optimized like DR and isn't broken as SR2.
