Seaside Daze is still an annual event in the town, but back in the 80s/90s, the Beach Party was a monster. Easily 20,000 people there for it!

It hasn’t hosted events in a very very long time. The population dropped quite heavily over the last 25 years and the NS government makes zero investment in it.

@@JamiefromHali I mean, money gets poured into the beach every year or so to try to rebuild the beach, rock wall and stuff to try to hold off the inevitable. But it's going to eventually just disappear, sadly, and nothing can really be done in the end to prevent that.

@@wanderbeard i grew up spending much time working and playing at the beach. It has gone through many changes over the decades but it always seems to repair itself over time. There's not much you can do to change that. The dunes move around both on land and under the water. One big thing ive noticed since i was a youngster there is a lot less grass. The grass seemed to slow the wind and water erosion. Maybe if there was more grass planted it would help.

Yeah, my dad remembers when there was a whole drivable road down the beach on the backside. Couldn't get much more than a bicycle down there now, if you're lucky.

@@wanderbeard They stopped access for everyone around the mid/late eighties i believe. I spent many summers as part of the grant crews building the boardwalks. Erosion prevention was big back then too.. Pretty hard to stop mother nature from moving sand around though.

@@JamiefromHali Sounds about right. We moved back to Dominion in '89 and it was just around that time that things on the beach started a sharp turn downward.
