I live really close to Ledges and my favorite trail there is hidden up the road called Lost Lake Trail. The views of the Des Moines river are breath taking and worth the hike out to the lookout rock!

Another Iowa park we'd highly recommend is Maquoketa Caves State Park. It's electric only and quite a bit further east than this park, but it's really worth a visit!

Wow, $18/night for full hookups! Definitely looks like an awesome spot to check out…loved the recommendation of the stream walk! 😁

I know, right? We've paid 4X that price to stay at places that weren't as nice! State Parks in general are almost always really great.

I'm a new subscriber I have roots in Illinois and I traveled a lot to Iowa as a child and younger adult so thank you for sharing the Midwest Iowa really does have a lot of pretty places

Thank you for joining us! It's funny how little attention the Midwest gets. It's full of hidden gems! We REALLY loved Maquoketa Caves State Park, but we visited it before we were filming our travels. We need to go back!
