You are most welcome and very deserving!! I am glad I was able to watch while making my lunch and working on some things at home. The views I saw were stunning. And it was good to know about the bears! Do not take honey into the woods. They will smell it! And it’s good to be safe and know what’s ok and not ok to take in certain areas!

Thank you for the video Norm. I'll be in that area next month. What was the time that you started out? plan to see some locations really early in the morning. but starting out from Takayama with car and arrive in Narai Juku early seems extreme maybe ^^

We have a set amount of time in our life, and we can't get any more, no matter how hard we try. So, thank you for wanting to share these moments in time with all of us.

The biggest question on my mind is how did you convince almost everyone in the town to stay away or inside until the end of your stream. That's very impressive. All joking aside - this stream was just so ... serene. It felt like the small town we all (?) yearn to have grown up in and lived in. I got the sense that everyone there knows everyone else just because of how comfortable it all feels. Not having ever visited, but I think this town gives the sense of the Kyoto we all wish we could visit - if that makes any sense at all?

Wow, what a stunning place to visit for the finale! I loved all the swallows and the beautiful forest path. Truly Norm, let me say thank you for the last eleven days again. You honestly gave me something to look forward to every day and I collected so, so many inspiring screenshots. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for the journeys - and for the relaxing rain vibes, ocean views, stair ratings and umbrella adventures. So excited for the many videos you managed to record during your travels!

Loved this video, it's wonderful to see towns like this with such beautiful traditional architecture being preserved. Hopefully a positive side affect of increased tourism will be to keep places like this alive as other rural towns die away. My solo trip in Japan was amazing and I can't wait to come back next year. Thanks for a great adventure!

This was the first stream I was able to catch live. Usually would be at the gym but my cat came to snuggle in bed and I just couldn't get up haha. Am usually a silent watcher and rarely comment but just wanted to say thank you so much for these streams. Was supposed to travel to Japan for my honeymoon in 2021 but the world situation prevented it. Now have a mortgage to pay instead 😅 These streams help me to experience what I missed. Will definitely get to Japan one day in the future but for now keep doing what you're doing and I will keep watching ❤ I look forward to the rest of the videos from this trip.

So many favorite moments that it's hard to choose just one. Thinking you're lucky the stairs in the first adventure at the vertical mountain shrine weren't an absolute waterfall. Low connection in Wakayama, but the color of the water, sunset, and the beach. Ochiai, just pure Shikoku atmosphere - the water, lush greenery, and joy in your reacquaintance with Ayanosan. Another rainy waterways and backstreets journey and the absolute shock on your face when the gimbal turned in Kanayama. Then finishing out 11 days of nonstop adventure with the astonishingly empty and beautiful Narai-juku. Love that tranquility of early morning. I'd recommend getting a gohei mochi, but I think the shops don't open until late morning. 🙃Safe trip back to Tokyo and see you next week. 💜✌🐦

And expanding on whether Kyoto is worth it when you have beautiful places like Narai-juku to visit: Yes, I still feel Kyoto is worth it, though I now also highly recommend Shikoku and Kyushu. Kyoto breathes with history and beauty. As I commented in chat, I visit the outskirts more often these days, hunting new and unique vistas. I visit the more heavily visited tourist places (read Fushimi Inari) very early or late. NGL I was irritated with how crowded it was mid-morning in Spring 2023. Each city, village, or backcountry inaka hamlet has its own feel. Its own vibe. Whether I've visited by train or car, rain or shine, I've always found something amazing, and never left disappointed. I've spoken with the locals, usually in a mix of English and Japanese - multiple exchanges with shop owners, the amazing staff at NJA, and a nice couple who stopped to help read a daikichi fortune at Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine. I've been given mikan and kaki by the neighbor Ojisan and an accommodation's owner. I've stretched my boundaries by wandering into the abandoned hotel on Sakurajima and Nikenya. These interactions and locales add pins to my maps, and keep me coming back to Japan, ever seeking new experiences and places to roam. JAPAN is worth it. 💜✌🐦

Love the architecture here. Really pretty carpentry on display, plus can't go wrong with swallows flying around being aerial acrobats. I think out of the whole experience, the abandoned school was probably my favorite. Something about structures left to the vagaries of time and the elements sparks my interest. Beyond that though, how could you not pick Ochiai village as the favorite? Those views! Truly breathtaking. Thank you so much for taking us along on this wonderful adventure Norm, it was a blast. Looking forward to next time!

Thank you Norm for the 1000000 secs. The one thing that many of these old beautiful streets have in common, is that they put all the ugly overhead power and phone lines underground. It makes such a difference.

Thank you for sharing your day in Narai Juku. It brought back some wonderful memories from 2017 when my family and I stayed in a minshuku there. I still remember so fondly one of the shops there in the Main Street where an elderly woman was selling her husband’s artwork. He had sadly passed away a few years earlier but she was keeping their family business going. I bought two pictures from her which I had framed and are hanging here in my house in Australia. Thank you again for this lovely video.

about bad behaviors of tourists in Japan. I've witnessed it myself back in 2016 at Yoshino yama area. One dude was grabbing and "shaking" a sakura tree branch, the branch actually broke and he just left it on the ground, after taking photos. He wanted the falling sakura petals I guess. It's crazy. Me and friends gave him a dirty look but he was happily smiling at us like it's dang fun~. So annoying. Other polite and respectful tourists will be the local's victims, you know. The locals are so done with tourists, they just decide to be rude to ALL tourists. gee.
