Whenever I show my map of pins for places I've been in Japan, without fail, every single person has zoomed and questioned "Okinawa?"
Well, I'm glad to say, this summer I finally went! I managed to get free (yes, FREE) flights to Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, so I spent a couple of days relaxing and mingling with the locals in Japan's paradise island. Enjoy this casual vlog as I melt through the intense heat and humidity, with a slice of island life.

Ahhhh the Okinawa humidity unlike anything you ever experienced. I remember getting off the plane in Naha and feeling like I was going to melt. Lived there for a year - loved it!!

THANK YOU!! I've experienced a great deal of hot weather during my life time of travels but my last trip to Tokyo and Ishigaki (last year, September) was UNBELIEVABLE. It was just as you described; I felt like I was swallowing the air rather than breathing it, ha! Next time I'm going to leave all my gorgeous vintage clothing etc at home, giving the street style malarkey a hard pass. As much as I love to make an effort with my presentation, I thought my face would melt off. I will dress like an Australian cattle farmer next time, to hell with it. Bonus: only packing very basic items leaves much more room in my suitcase for shopping. How many Spam beach towels does one woman need? Dude, I'll find out! 😆

Such a great video! Super chill. Loved it. That donut - was that an okara donut?? Bc I looove the Japanese okara donuts and since Okinawa is famous for tofu - maybe they have them in Ishigaki? (Am going in a few weeks)

Lovely video! If you get the chance, I highly recommend exploring the remote islands of Ishigaki-jima. Hateruma-jima, the southernmost island of Japan, boasts stunning beaches and lovely locals. Iriomote-jima offers a lush jungle experience with a climate distinct from Okinawa's main island. It's just a 1-2 hour ferry cruise from Ishigaki-jima. Enjoy your travels!

Makes (2). Just subscribed as I am now the owner of both XH2 and XH2S. Just dumped my SONY A7Siii and A7RIV. Moved from Chicago (Osaka’s US sister city) to Kamakura. I’ve been bingeing your channel to catch up. Damn dude… your style is amazing. Beautiful stuff. Yeah I understand the term illiterate in Japan. Hope to change that in 2024. Slowly transitioning to life here. Got my drivers license and car 2023 (gaijin obstacle process). But passed it first attempt which is virtually not the case. Don’t know if you ever do meet ups but I’ll keep watching to track likelihood? All the best.

Fun Fact: In Okinawa, they say "Karii" instead of "Kanpai". Something I learned when I was in the Navy.

lovely video, one day ill go that south. when its bit cooler. What filter are you using on the lens, also I'm finding that flying internal and not taking the train to some places in japan is far cheaper too one flights only cost me £56 bargin 😃
