In this video, I walk the entire street of Montgomery Street, starting from West Side Avenue all the way to Hudson Street at Exchange Place. Montgomery Street connects many sections in Jersey City. I walk the entire street to see how the neighborhood changes throughout my walk. Starting from residential areas, crossing McGinley Square, to passing beautiful brownstones, and architecture in Downtown Jersey City, to ending by high rise buildings in Exchange Place with a beautiful view of Hudson River and NYC. At the beginning when you're at the corner of Montgomery and Westside, the parking lot for St Peter's, my grandfather used to own that whole corner my grandfather had the headstone business he used to make The monuments for the cemetery and my father had the transmission shop there Guardian transmissions and my uncle had the auto parts store there Montgomery Auto parts which he later moved across the street. The whole property was sold to St Peters when my grandfather died. They knocked down all those buildings the transmission shop the auto parts store and my grandfather's shop where he made the headstones was all knocked down and St Peters put that parking lot there. I'm 57 years old and I've been going there hanging out at that corner at my Dad's transmission shop since I was a little kid. This brings back so many so many many memories that I had, that corner of Montgomery West side was like my second home.

Excellent video once again, Manny. The Beacon used to be the Jersey City Medical Center. I was born there and my Mom was a nurse there. Nice job, Manny.

Excellent walk, my friend!! At 8:00 that used to be "Jersey City Medical Center". That's where I was born😎✌️ Now its an apartment complex.

I've been there many times from the time I was a kid. My grandfather died there and my cousins were born there, I was born at Christ hospital not far. So they changed the hospital into apartments I saw that a few years ago they were doing that. I remember when I was a kid that used to have a symbol on the wall it was a bomb shelter location in case there was ever a nuclear attack. Jersey City medical center was a designated bomb shelter. I'm glad they didn't knock the buildings down I'm glad they're still there. I don't know some people probably don't realize how many people died there LOL. If you have an apartment in there you have to always be wondering did someone die in this room lol. The ER used to be known as blood City.

I was at a birthday party recently and one guest I was talking to owns a place at the Beacon. It is an art deco building (like the Rockefeller building in NYC), plenty use of marbles. I ask her if its really haunted, and she replies that it is, she sometimes see faces and hear noises, when that happens she prays and they disappear!

Great video, Manny. You always do a fine job with your walking tours. I am from the Hamilton Park Area of Downtown Jersey City. I lived there from my birth in 1963 until 1967. I live in a three-family house that was owned by my grandparents. My parents and I then moved to Alan Terrace into our own two-family home. Alan Terrace is in the "Island Section" of Jersey City, which is the best area of all of JC. You should do a walking tour of this mostly unknown and suburban-like section of JC. The "Island Section" is just as nice now as it was when I lived there. I lived in that area from 1967 until 1995. I moved to a suburban bedroom community in Monroe Township-Middlesex County, New Jersey in 1995 and I am still here in 2024. You may like "The Island". Pay it a visit. You will not regret it.
