Exploring KOH LANTA 2022, Thailand 🇹🇭

Our last Thai island stop off before we move to our next country was the beautiful Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta has been so different to everywhere else we have visited, with little to no tourists and a very laid back attitude. The locals here were so happy to see tourists and we were always greeted with big smiles and waves which gave this island such a homely feel
Our favourite thing to do here was renting a scooter and exploring every inch of the island. The natural beauty here is beyond us and feels so untouched by tourism which is so nice especially when you come from the busy tourist hotpots like Phi Phi and Ao Nang. So if you're looking somewhere to get away from the crowds, get back to nature and chill out... This is the island for you!!!

Hey, we're Eoin and Aisling, a couple from Ireland who have packed their bags, waved goodbye to home and set off to travel the world in search of new adventures!
We started our journey by spending 3 months walking from the top to the bottom of Croatia and exploring a few of the boarding countries. Then at the start of January 2022 we hopped on a flight to South East Asia!
We hope to be in this part of the world for the next year, but who knows what might happen along the way, our plans are forever changing!
We tend to plan each day as it comes and can't wait to see what the world has in store for us!

Thanks guy!! The weather is definitely unpredictable at this time of year and we were forever forgetting our raincoats even though we knew we might need them 😂 amazing island regardless and so glad we went and seen it such a lovely place with the nicest people ☺️

I was originally planning on coming to Koh Lanta this summer but I heard that the place basically shuts down starting in May/June so I decided to to to Koh Phangan/Koh Samui instead.

We loved our time in Koh Lanta but if you compare it to Samui or Phangan they are very different atmosphere vise, alot of places were closed but we hadn't planned on doing much during our time here other than driving around, seeing the nature and trying more amazing Thai food. At this time of year the weather is really hit or miss but we didn't mind and really enjoyed getting away from the crowds of the other islands so if you want a chill island Koh Lanta is definitely that but if your looking more of an atmosphere I think you've made the right decision Koh Phangan was probably our favourite stop off in Thailand, we actually stayed for 6 weeks 🙈 so there is plenty to do and weather wise I think it's much better at this time of year. Hope you have a great trip regardless ☺️

After living on Koh Lanta since 2005 for 15 years it is such a shame what Covid did to this island. Thailand making visas harder to get for long stays etc. People really struggle now and have no help. No tourism to talk about. Lanta was awsome a few years ago and i pray it comes back. Sad you are not seeing it how it was as everyone who toured Thailand and ended up on Lanta always said it was the best place for sure !!

We did love our time in Koh Lanta it was a great break away from the craziness of the other islands. So calm and laid back and we hope it continues to rebuild after covid

I’ll be in Thailand Nov/Dec, Bangkok/Chiang Mai then planning on Koh Lanta for a bit over a week before going to Ao Nang, I’m hoping the island tourism will have picked up a little by then.

@@EoinandAisling Thanks, we had been to Thailand for five years every winter up to Covid, never been to Koh Lanta though so we are looking forward to that (and getting away from the Scottish winter for a month)

Do you have a plan to go to Northern of Thailand?

We do hope to explore the North but at a later stage we decided we wanted to see some more countries for now so we are heading to Malaysia, Singapore and then explore some of Indonesia and the Philippines and hopefully loop back round to the North of Thailand but we just don't know when that will be
