About Kundala Dam:
Kundala Dam is a masonry arch dam having a height of 47 m. Length is 260 m. This dam was completed in 1947. and is considered to be Asia’s first arch dam.
It is the part of the Pallivasal Hydroelectric Project on the Muthirapuzha River(tributary of the Periyar River)
The water stored in the Kundala reservoir is released through the Muthirapuzha river to Mattupetty dam located downstream.
Visitors to Kundala Dam can enjoy a variety of water sports and activities, such as shikara boating, pedal boating, speed boat rides, and horse rides.
