Exploring LIBERTY STATE PARK in Jersey City, New Jersey RECLINING LIBERTY, EMPTY SKY 9/11 MEMORIAL

2 жыл бұрынWalking tour of Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey featuring the Empty Sky 9/11 Memorial Empty Sky Memorial with a remnant from the World Trade Center in the foreground, the Reclining Liberty statue, railyards and piers of Central Railroad of New Jersey, Freedom Way and Liberty Walkway (a crescent-shaped promenade, stretches from the CRRNJ Terminal along the waterfront south to the Statue of Liberty overlook, bridging two coves along the way). It is part of the longer Hudson River Waterfront Walkway. Halfway along Liberty Walkway is a bridge to Ellis Island, but only authorized vehicles are allowed. Also featured is the LIBERATION MEMORIAL depicting an American soldier carrying a Jewish concentration camp survivor.

historic note: at 04:00 you are entering the start of the Morris Canal (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_Canal) a 107 waterway that lifted cargo boats more than 900 feet above over the central NJ hills to Pennsylvania. It was the first of its kind in the USA. Most of it has been filled in but parts of it have been preserved.
