Australia East Coast Road Trip - Episode 5
Magnetic Island is an island off the coast of Townsville in Queensland, famous for its golden beaches, stunning bushland hikes, and abundance of unique wildlife. In this episode, we spend 24 hours exploring this incredible island and tick off two bucket-list wildlife sightings.
After spending a day sailing the Whitsunday Islands and visiting Whitehaven Beach - which was named 'Traveller's Choice Best Beach in the World' by Tripadvisor in 2021 - we continue our journey north to Townsville and take the 20 minute ferry over to Magnetic Island. We search for rock wallabies on the beach, hike the famous Forts Walk Track, and discover our first wild koalas.

During our time on Magnetic Island, we stayed at Selina Magnetic Island hostel - which I highly recommend if you're coming to the island (it's cheaper than bringing your van across on the ferry!).
