Right outside of Kyoto, Japan, is Nara, a picturesque city that’s home to some of the cutest and most polite animals in the world- the wild deer of Nara Deer Park! These deer are known to bow to visitors in exchange for pets and treats, and they roam happily and freely across the city. We spent an afternoon feeding and playing with the deer before cozying up inside for some Japanese ramen, pork gyoza, and red bean mochi. This is an easy and affordable day trip from Kyoto that you won't want to miss while you’re in Japan! 🇯🇵

We had an absolute BLAST with the deer in Nara, and I’m so glad we made the trip out to see them (even though it was freezing cold outside hahaha). 🦌 In next week’s video, we are heading back East towards Tokyo, stopping in Japan’s famous mountain town of Hakone to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan and onsen. 🧖🏻‍♀🧖🏼 See you next week for another one in Japan! 🇯🇵 👩🏻‍🎨 Check out my little art shop for Japan-inspired pieces (and more!) - chadandclaire.com/shop

I promised myself I would watch your video before I go to sleep on this Sunday night in Los Angeles. Yahoo did it. Great content today as usual 🌺🌿👍🏅 And Hakone is one of my favorite places in all of Japan. So looking forward to to that video.

You enjoyed sightseeing in Nara and interacting with deer. There are many long-established Japanese confectionery shops in Nara. There is also a traditional pickle called Narazuke. I also introduce Nara with English subtitles on KZfaq, so please refer to it the next time you visit Nara.

Been to Nara last January, it feels like an escape to the city-esque vibes of Osaka and Tokyo. The deer were wonderful but man, the mochi was the highlight for me.

It looks like the trip to Nora Park was a delightful one. One could tell that you had a blast feeding the the miniature deer. The cold weather may have seem colder because you were so close to Osaka Bay. That Japanese food looked so delicious after spending the whole day feeding the wild deer in Nora Park. I cannot wait to see what is in store for the next video.

Random bit of advice, if you ever approach a prey animal, when putting your hand out do so with the palm facing up towards it. A lot of them see the other way, the way Chad did, as a threat. Palm up, and they'll be more receptive to you. I don't really know how to explain it beyond that, and I'm too tired to bother looking it up but yeah thats a thing😂

I love Nara..we bought a super cute magnet with a deer when we were there. They're so precious. 🥺 And by the way, onigiri has an "i", so it's more like "o-ni-gir-i", rather than on-giri. They're so freakin' good. I miss them! 🍙

I visited Japan about 5 years ago and 7-Eleven was a staple. We went there mainly in Shinjuku. However when we got to Osaka and Kyoto we ventured out. Such a fun adventure. Looks like the deer are accustomed to humans just like the elk where I'm from!

Overall, I enjoy your videos. Lots of good information, but also some misinformation. Giant bowl of sashimi with sushi rice underneath is a chirashi bowl or chirashizushi. The rice balls are not on'giri, but onigiri. I like your videos because I get to see other parts of the world and get travel tips, but no need to provide "expert" info, just share your own insights! Your own insights without googled tidbits are appreciated in their own right.

When you feed deer first you should hold deer cracker high, deer bows then feed. You don't need to bow back.
