Saline Valley is located in Death Valley National Park, CA. Saline Valley is a vast area that is hard to access and requires traveling long, rough, and dusty dirt roads into one of the most remote areas of California. However, the adventurers who make this journey are rewarded with some of the world's most dramatic natural hot springs. These springs have been groomed to a resort-like aesthetic unlike anywhere else we have ever visited. Join the Holcombe family AKA Famagogo on a tour of the Saline Valley in their Overland Van, a Winnebago Revel 4x4 Sprinter van that has been created just for this very type of exploration into the wild. If you ever have wanted to visit this region of Death Valley, this video can offer you a look into what a trip here is like.

Life Savers that day! This is Bambie Reed and Doug Zeddis, the people who needed q hose clamp to fix a hose and get I to Saline. Thanks a million. Paying it forward helping others on that very road made it even more heart warming. That barking is my dog Butch. Great Moments 👍 in Saline.Valley.

Hey you two! Awesome to read this and we were so glad we could help. I'm glad you found the video on KZfaq. What an awesome time we had back there. I hope our paths cross again. Happy travels!

Last time my buddy flew me into the hot spring, we landed in the middle of the desert, which was dope. This year I want to drive to the hot spring, but I read a lot of reviews, many people complained about the road condition, stating poor road condition and need at least two spare tires in order to get through. Thank you for answering that question and debunk some the myths, made me feel a lot better!

It would be so fun to fly in. The road is corrugated and very remote but not difficult technically. It would be a bad place to need a tow. But, just be prepared and go have a blast. Tons of people do this all the time.

We used to go there in college, back in the late 80s. Funny thing is, we always went in VW Buses. It's changed a quite a bit. Thanks for the video. One year we took a Saab sedan (with 5 people in it). A rock hit a fuel line, and we didn't realize until we were leaving. Fortunately we found a guy on the road back with surgical tubing and some extra gas in his tank. Good times. The Bat art didn't used to be there, but it has a history. Back in the day, the only "sign" that you were at camp was the "bat rock" it had a bat painted on it. Easy to miss. Also, for old timers: Here's to Chili Bob!

Ive been there and agree its super nice. A xouple things they didnt document are two other warm pools, another shower, a cold pool, and a few other pools about 1/4 miles up the road. Also if you go there i can very highly recommend going to beverage canyon which is a couple miles drive away. It has lots of vegitation and you hike up a stream and a few waterfalls. Also theres a great short (3-5 hour) hike up a cindercone that we call hippie mountain. You cant miss it because it has a giant peace sign on the side. And for anyone who loves aviation as much as i do, youll be happy to hear that there is fighter jet training in the vally and sometimes they even buzz camp (only in the daytime.)

It’s beautiful place. The only thing is clothing is optional and you begin to feel weird that you’re wearing it lol but well done in this video. I hope you guys had a great time.❤

Yes, It is a weird feeling being the only one wearing clothes in the pools. Kinda the opposite of my nightmares about going to high school in my underwear... Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the warning about optional clothing, was going to take my 4 and 7 year old grand daughters, probably not a good option for them.

I hate to be one of these people that rains on everybody's parade, lol, but a guy drowned by himself in the source pool at Warm Springs a couple of years ago. It was several hours before someone found him. Dead body water was of course thereafter piped into the soaking pools, so yah, Griswold Springs in real-life. Ewww. You can Google it. Also, a lot of really old guys are regularly in those pools soaking naked all the time, as was the drowning victim at the time. But you know, if you could see who used the public restroom just before you, you'd go behind a tree, right?

Yep, Naked hippies are everywhere. It's part of the experience and why I put that warning at the end of the video. I would still go back as its a really neat adventure.

Nothing wrong with naked hippies, or naked anyone for that matter. That's part of the appeal of SV - It's not a tourist trap or an amusement park - Its desolate location is conducive to nudism, if one so desires. If you're unable to stomach the nude human form, then please stay in the more pedestrian areas of the park.

@@Zeezu70 Oh I can stomach naked college girls with perfect bodies, trust me here. My dilemma is the naked old guys, lol, and there is about a 10,000 to 1 ratio of them to the college girls. ;) Referencing my post above, one of these naked old guy's dead body floated around in the source pool for several hours before being discovered, thus decomposing human remains (and by products of such) were essentially piped into the soaking pool as well. I guess don't drink the water? Have fun.

Sweet rig! How did the RIP suspension do out there in the dirt/gravel road? And did you air down? Can’t wait to get mine installed next month!

Thanks Rex, yes, we aired down to 30 psi and the Agile Offroad RIP is a game changer for the van on and offroad, it makes a huge difference. Your going to love the change it will make in your van.

There were maybe 75 people back there between the three hot springs. That sounds like a lot but everyone was pretty spread out, and it didn't feel that crowded. This was around Thanksgiving week, so that it might have been more busy than average. Thanks for watching!

This is how we went in: North Pass Directions Saline Valley Hot Springs from Big Pine in the Owens Valley. Take Highway 168 towards Death Valley for 3 miles. Turn Right onto Death Valley Road. In 14 miles, you will reach Woucoba Saline Valley Road. The road passes through Marble Canyon before entering the Saline Valley. From here, it is about a ten-mile downhill grade to the bottom of Saline Valley. About 60 miles, most of it over dirt roads. 3 hours. We then took the southern route out toward South Pass and on to Panamint Springs.

So you went in from big pine to Eureka Dunes? You really went all the way down to 30 psi? Heading there in a few weeks. Thanks
@Famagogo
@Famagogo 2 жыл бұрын
No, we went all the way South on Saline Valley Rd to 190. Yes, 30psi is my standard for off-road driving in my Sprinter. 50 front/70 rear psi is my standard for on road driving. Have a great trip!

Everyone: If you're new to the springs, please shower off before entering the tubs - No one wants to soak in your smelly sweat & body oils! There are places to shower yourself at both the upper & lower springs & there's usually soap & shampoo left behind if you forgot yours. I highly recommend showering _after_ soaking as well, because invariably there will be a clueless, inconsiderate person who just walks straight into the tub without showering off first, and really consider all the areas their uncleaned naked body parts have been in contact with 🤔. These tubs are not large bodies of water like a lake, a river, or an ocean where it doesn't matter if u plunge directly in. Please be considerate of the tub water quality and the other soakers. And for the love of all that is holy PLEASE DON'T SOAK IN YOUR DIRTY UNDERWEAR!!! So gross! If the tub water looks dirty, help out cleaning the tub, don't be lazy a wait for someone else to do it.

How bad were the washboard roads going in?

We came in from the North and it wasn't bad at all. I’d have to think the conditions change all the time but the South route had much worse washboard. Have a great time!

Hello, You are going to have a blast. 5 hours sounds realistic. We were stopping a lot to take pictures and photo video so I'm not totally sure how long it would take if you drove straight there. We traversed the whole Saline Valley going North to South. That made for a great tour. Have a great trip.
