nice place to visit as a tourist but don't think it's good to stay long-term. language barrier is huge unless you are fluent in korean. imagine if you need to call police or ambulance for an emergency but cannot communicate properly with them. also the society is quite insular. they are not as outwardly polite or friendly as the Japanese but are similarly nationalistic and protective of their national identity. ie. you will never be able to integrate fully into their social circles and be 'one of them' even if you can speak Korean and live there for very long. But at least with the Japanese from my experience they will be more polite about it in front of you.

@@verselines you're right. There's always the possibility of long term stay but it probably would be better as a vacation place

You didn’t mention taxation on retirement income (eg foreign pension). Could you please elaborate as I couldn’t find much online. Thanks!

South Korea does not have a retirement visa unfortunately. We believe that foreign income isn't taxed. If you would like to know more on how one can live long term in South Korea, we recommend reading this: adamfayed.com/how-to-guides/how-to-retire-in-south-korea-2023/

If you truly want to retire in Korea, anywhere but the Seoul area

I went to SK once. Enjoyed the visit but pricy compared with SE Asia. The winters can be harsh as well. I would prefer visiting SK versus being an expat. Appreciate the vlog. BTW, do you think the new MM2H has created a bigger demand, or is it still out of reach for many?

Yeah, SK is pricey even for Singapore standards. The new requirements certainly has piqued many interest parties. Of course, we cannot comment on whether they qualify.

Good video. More expensive than I thought it would be.

Thank you. Yes, once we were there and really explored and did research, we realised that it's pretty expensive to live there.

can you take the winter??? korea is famous for their cold winter...!!!???

Never try, never know! In Jan, Seoul's temp went as low as - 6 degrees, without wind chill. We didn't say South Korea is famous for its winter but it is cold and lots of tourists flock there for some snow fun
@captainmorgan7575 ай бұрын
@@corporatebreakoutcouple you need to clarify. I found that the record low, in Seoul, is -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 C). In Minnesota, where I live, the record cold is -60 F (-51 C).
