A disturbingly high number of these videos have the same kind of story: "indie filmmaker(s) put(s) heart and soul into making their picture on a shoestring budget, only to have some ruthless distributor or production company screw them out of everything." It makes me really grateful for the way the internet has been able to facilitate so many aspects of film production independently and on the cheap.

@@flannelogue KZfaq is providing an incredibly useful platform to market your product, and to also sell it in the end. It certainly deserves it's cut. What.. should it be completely free (as it is) and take no part of advertising shown on THEIR website, using THEIR server farms running on electricity THEY pay for? Well.. if you think that, you are free to invest several million to setup a small streaming platform and run it without profit.

What a forgotten little gem of a film. I saw it on on VHS back in the 90s because I was drawn toward the great cover-artwork. Really dark and creepy. I can also imagine, that it could have had some influence on the makers of "It Follows". The walking manifestations of supernatural STD reminded me of the silent dead people hunting the lead actress in "Sole Survivor".

Have you seen the Australian film THE SURVIVOR which is based on James Herbert novel that came out 3yrs earlier. Slightly different but that deals with the sole survivor of an airline crash but treads similar ground. M. Night's UNBREAKABLE had to be rewritten because it was considered to close to Herbert's book.

FYI, the plane that crashes in the opening and that Denise was flying on was a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30, which back in the day was a very popular commercial airliner. The stock footage shows the DC-9 in the livery of Hughes AirWest, which were taken over by Northwest Airlines in 1980.

@@GoodBadFlicks - When he used to blog, i would follow Furious D (dknowsall.blogspot.com/) a blogger that reminds me a lot of you. You should just do a search on one of his rants about "net profits" with quotes like... "You have more luck seeing Bigfoot shopping with the Loch Ness Monster in downtown Manhattan than seeing any net profits. These are the receipts with the total costs of production, marketing, distribution, and studio overhead deducted, and that pretty much sucks the box office dry." He really taught me how the business of Hollywood is so messed up and every time I watch one of these exploring videos that lesson is reinforced.

I hate when people call it "Its so bad, its good". Bullshit, its a fun movie. For fuck sake, AC/DC is playing in the background. I guess the trailer ruined the film a bit, it tried to be serious with Halloween 3 soundtrack. Weird choice. Trucks you can call "its so bad, its good" because it was trying to be serious which is laughable.

Eberhardt must have loosened up after this, as for 'Night of the Comet' he let Robert Beltran completely rewrite the character. Originally it was a cholo gangster with a heart, but Beltran reworked it as a hardworking man looking after his mother. In fact Hector not being a stereotype is part of what makes the film work. Plus Beltran impersonating Burt Reynolds at point.

This sounds like the film The Survivor (from 1981 starring Robert Powell) In the film Powell is the pilot of a plane that crashes and he is the sole survivor. A psychic is haunted by visions of the people killed in the crash. It was based on a book by James Herbert. I dont remember much about it (other than a burnt up little girl) but it scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

I never seen soul survivor but I can tell you that there was a film even before that one back in 1981 produced by the same producers of mad Max in the Road warrior called the survivor. Which was based on a novel, the theme is the same only with a pilot who suffers survivors guilt in a major plane crash that must be seen to believed, it’s one of the best special effects I ever saw utilizing a real jet that has been gutted and on the crane. This is an Australian film with a British actor, and it has pretty much death scenes like final destination. This film was shot Anamorphic, and it’s an absolutely beautiful looking horror film, you should look it up, I’m gonna look forward to watching Soul Survivors.

Carnival of Souls (the movie) from 1962, was essentially a DIRECT ripoff of the Twilight Zone episode called, "The Hitch-Hiker" from 1960, about a woman driving cross-country who keeps seeing a hitchhiker everywhere she goes. He is DEATH. She was killed in a car crash and he keeps appearing everywhere to take her away (she doesn't know she's dead). "Sole Survivor" is more based on the Twilight Zone episode called, "Twenty-Two" from 1961, about a woman hospitalized and who keeps having a recurring nightmare in which she is led to Room Twenty-Two, the morgue, by a nurse (who represents death). She's scared that if she leaves the hospital and goes on a flight, that the plain will crash. As soon as she leaves the hospital and goes on the plain, it DOES crash.

Suggestion for a film to review: 1983 horror film "Eyes of Fire". The film's a bad trip with terrified homesteaders, mud people, a tree bound devil, etc. When I first heard of Vvitch, I thought it might be a loose remake of this film.

Found this movie one day while going down the Wikipedia rabbit hole. Nice to see a more in depth look at it.

No mention of the film produced based on the James Herbert book; The Survivor. Similar (ish) story line. Think it was released a couple of years before hand.

Are you sure she isn't a superhero like Willis in Unbreakable? I love knowing all those obscure movies which I remember in the video stores but never got the chance to see them. Thanx!!!

The movie is pretty amazing. I am surprised that people don't pick up on the subtle hints that the main actress is literally going through the 5 stages of grieve as she has her brief encounters with death throughout the movie. Starting from denial of nearly getting ran over by the truck...to final acceptance when she is gunned down by the cadaver. She is tired of running and just sort of gives up. Each of her encounters with death in-between these two events, could be argued that she was hitting those notes of anger, bargaining, and depression. I mean I could be reading far too much into it, but that is what I walked away with when I first watched the film.
