Wow!! Very nicely done video on South Dakota. I also enjoyed your realism you put into it with your own frustrations on vacation, I think we’ve all been there! I’ve visited South Dakota the last week of May 2020 as the scamdemic drug on. It was actually a great time to go because there were much fewer people out and about and many of the things that were open were free because they were not totally open. (Mount Rushmore). I trailered my motorcycle up to the Badlands and rode in to the Black Hills from there. I cannot wait to go back this May, and I’m riding the whole way, no more of that trailer nonsense! I can’t wait to check out more of your videos. Thank you!

There's a lot more to see, Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon Road, Elsworth Air Force Base where you can tour an ICBM silo with a cold war era missile inside. Hill City is better than Deadwood in my opinion. There's also thousands of miles of atv trails.

Born and raised in South Dakota here. Beautiful video. I actually found it because I get homesick (Alaska) sometimes and just seeing my Black Hills makes me feel better. This was awesome and so nice to hear appreciation of my home state. The best time to go back is in early to mid June, before tourist season surges. You shouldn't have the heavy crowds then. It's the worst through most of August and after Sturgis until most schools are back in session and summer vacations are over. My family used to have a motel in the southern Hills and our lives weren't our own during tourist season. Also, in case anyone else is put off by the traffic in Deadwood, I just want to say it's that way because the way it is laid out in the hills there is only one corridor through most of the town and that single road is main street. So it doesn't take much to make it seem like heavy traffic. But once you get parked everything is withing walking distance. Everything!

This is a really well done video, and many of your still shots were outstanding. When you come next, try to come either a bit before the bike rally or a little later, Any time from mid-May to mid-July, or the latter part of August through mid-September, and you'll miss the big crowds. You didn't mention it in your video, but other highlights are Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road. You mentioned the Wildlife Loop Road in Custer State Park, which is worth doing twice, once in the morning and then once in the evening. You can also visit Wind Cave NP, hike up Black Elk Peak (highest point between the Rocky Mountains and the Alps), bike beautiful Spearfish Canyon, and take the short trip over to Devil's Tower NM in Wyoming.

Great video! I agree badlands NP is the highlight of that area. A suggestion to other viewers: enter the park from the West through Scenic and drive Sheep Mountain Road, then head NE on Sage Creek Rd which merges onto Rim road (what is shown in this video). My brother and I personally liked the south part of the park more than the north and only saw a handful of people. If the sun is still up when you hit the NE enterence, go south to Interior and drive West on hwy 44, then go north at Conata and take the road all the way to Wall. We saw Pronghorn and hundreds of Bison on hwy 44. A very magical day trip! If you're coming from Wall, do sage Creek, sheep mountain, hwy 44 east, and then rim rd back to the pinnicles enterence. Equally good.
