Welcome to "Tales from Tuscany"
We are Marisa and David, Australian expats now living part-time in Chianni Tuscany.
During the Global Pandemic, we decided to buy our Italian dream home, sight unseen and with no prior knowledge of the area.
This is our journey and we are taking you along with us!
TODAY'S VLOG...
Today is part 3 of our little end. of June road trip...lots has happened. since, so stay tuned but on our way home we travelled through a very stormy but stunning Chianti region just south of Florence, then west to the gorgeous hilltop town of Certaldo Alto...just. wonderful and deserves more time!
It. was then quickly back Chianni as the following week was set to be a HUGE one for us!!!

Flamenco sounds like fun 🤩 We are so happy you enjoy our little trips and we absolutely love sharing them, despite the weather or our lack of time! It’s great discovering places to return to! Fascinating as ever. Every turn provides something to look at and admire, steeped in history. Beautiful. As an aside, ever wondered why on your drives you never seem to see animals grazing in fields...? ❤️

Glad you enjoyed it Phil! Yes… Italy is just so full of wonderful history, architecture and nature! Just so much to enjoy! In all honesty, Tuscany had small holdings of cattle, sheep and pig farms for example, but they’re often off the beaten track and you won’t always notice them on a main road. This area is primarily vineyards and orchards/groves so you just don’t see them as much around here. Other areas of Italy are a little more geared towards animal farming. Certaldo is lovely! I’ve never known people to get as lost as you two do with Google Maps! 😂 Couple of Certaldo tips. If you’ve parked in the new town, you can get a funicular up to the old town and back again! Also, there is a carpark just outside one of the old town gates too.

Thanks for the tips Eoin! We will definitely go back and utilise them… it’s definitely worth a better look! The funicular sounds like fun! Actually I use Apple Maps to be fair but they often send us up the garden path 💚🥰😍🤗💋

Certaldo Alto is indeed a wee gem but it isn't totally off the radar because of Boccaccio and the festival Mercantia, etc. By the way, you do know that you can either park at the bottom and get the funicular up or drive right round and up the back to the parking lot? Good to know especially in this heat.. xx

Thank you my sweet! No...we'd never been and knew nothing about it! Just a wee stop on a busy day but next time we will definitely use one of those easier options for certain! We worked off a few extra calories that day, that's for sure! Thank you so much for your very helpful comments. xoxox
