YOU GUYS! Obviously Belgium is very well-known for their food, but these fries were NEXT LEVEL (sorry had to start this by mentioning fries LOL)!! In today's vlog we're in Brussels, and these are some of the best things to do!!
We kicked off the day with coffee as well as some breakfast. When I think of Belgium, three things pop into my mind: waffles, fries, & chocolate. SO, we knocked out one of the three by stopping at Maison Dandoy for some Belgian waffles. They specialize in waffles as well as specaloos, which are small spiced shortbread biscuits.See the Grand-Place
Right around the corner from Maison Dandoy is Grand Place, which is the most popular and most visited part of Brussels. Grand Place is the central square for the city of Brussels, and it’s known worldwide for it’s beauty. Around the square are extremely beautiful guild houses, the City Hall, & the Maison du Roi, which translates to ‘The King’s House’. This place is very similar to the Vienna City Hall in the fact that it REALLY shows out at Christmas time where it hosts a massive Christmas market.
Just a short walk from Grand-Palace is one of the quirkier things in Brussels. It’s called Mannekin Pis and I’ll let you put two and two together on why it has that name LOL.
Next up, a church!! Notre Dame Du Sablon isn’t the biggest or oldest church in Brussels, but it’s exterior is built in the gothic style & has two baroque chapels inside. We just couldn't pass it up!
Right next to Notre Dame Du Sablon is a place called Passion Chocolat. As we said earlier Belgium is known for three major things. We’ve tried the waffles, and now it’s on to the chocolate. We chose this chocolate shop because A) they’re very popular, but also B) because they don’t use preservatives, extracts, or concentrates in their product.
We then made the short walk down Rue de la Régence to see the Royal Palace of Brussels. Although it's been more than a century since the Belgian royal family lived in it, the Royal Palace of Brussels remains the headquarters of the Belgian constitutional monarchy. The palace was built in the 19th century and sits on the south side of Parc de Bruxelles, or Brussels Park. Full disclosure, we had no idea Belgium had a royal family LOL.
Since we were at the Royal Palace, we figured we might as well take a walk through Brussels Park. Parc Royal as it’s known locally is the largest public park in Brussels and was renovated from hunting grounds to a park in 1770.
Next up, FRIES! We took the public transit in order to access our late lunch spot. It’s called Frit Flagey and it’s really popular for locals here in Brussels. It’s a bit of a ride outside of the central part of the city but MAN is it worth it. They say that waffles, chocolate, and fries are the things to get here so knocking out all three in one day seemed appropriate for us LOL
We went home to clean up before we got dinner at a restaurant called Le Bistro. It had fabulous local food and we highly recommend it!
I know we’ve already been to Grand-Place today, but every time we’ve ever seen photos of it have been during the night time, which suggests to that it really shines when the sun goes down. It’s basically right in the center of Le Bistro and our last stop, so we wanted to stop one last time.
As we’ve said a few times today, Belgium is known for waffles, chocolate, & fries; but that’s not the whole picture. Belgians LOVE their beer and since we’re beer lovers ourselves, we wanted to end the night somewhere that would paint an accurate picture of this. Make sure to stop at Delirium to pick from one of their 2004 different beers!!!!
Thank you so much for watching!! Please subscribe if you enjoyed and see you in a few days for our next vlog!!

Hi! You can pronounce it VOLUVE' or smth, a very nice neighborhood i have lived there a few years! One thing only the brussels park is cute but it is by far not the biggest park in the city. We have beautiful and huge parks like the "Bois de la cambre" you can look it up, it's essentially our central park, it's a forest in the city. Then we have cinquantenaire park with its arcades (sorry you didn't check it out it's amazing, located in the EU quarter, where the commission is). Next where you ate fries there is an amazing part of the city, called "etangs d'ixelles" (ixelles's pond): there you can find two big ponds surrounded by typical brussels houses and at the end of it an abbey hidden in a park!

This is such a fantastic comment Riccardo!! We're going to pin it to the top of the video so that anyone who finds this can also see your recommendations. I wish we'd known about these before, especially so that we'd have been able to check out Ixelles's Pond. That'll be at the top of our must-sees next time we got to Brussels. Thank you so much for tuning into our video and providing such great info and feedback!!!!

@@ProbablyLost Thank you for the compliment, anytime. Brussels is a "known" city but outside the center not too known. Next to the ponds there is also a street called "Rue Lesbroussart" where you can find a lot of korean and thai restaurants (high quality), and an amazing italian pizzeria (Cocina). There's also a local brewery called Brussels beer project. In general, Ixelles is a quite trendy neighborhood as it's near the eu institutions (so many young expats) and is also home of two big universities of Brussels (ULB and VUB). Can't wait for your next video in Bruges, have a nice Sunday!

To pronounce WOLUWE correctly (for English/American speakers): WO (when you see something beautiful and you would say WOow), LU (like in LUxurious), WE (like your word 'way'), and you all stitch it together. ;-) Glad you liked are capital (and Bruges but that video I still have to look at). But Belgium is so much more than just our touristic hot spots. Just like every country, every city or village has some historic story to tell and to show. We have amazing museums, going from 'old art' to the most modern ones and so much more. I understand that for most people from abroad Belgium is one of the countries they travel to/through while they are visiting a big part of Europe or even the world. Because of it's seize (which looks small on a map) they stay here for one day at most. But I think that you can easily stay here for 3 days and really learn some more of who we are (as a country). All 3 regions (Flanders/Brussels, Brussels/Wallonië and the German speaking part) have their own very interesting places to visit/things to see. Depending when you visit us, you can enjoy local events like the "carnaval from Aalst or Binche", the Gentse Feesten and so many other festivals. Everyone is more than welcome ;-)

This is such an awesome comment. Thank you Peter!! I think if there's one thing we've learned after being in Europe for the past 7 months, it's that there are SO many ways different letters are pronounced in all the various countries. I guess it just goes to show how flexible & diverse the alphabet can be! We are really hoping to return to Belgium next year because as you said, there's so much more to see in the country outside of those places. I'd love to make it to Spa & Leuven at some point. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch our video & give us feedback!!!

I'm so glad you visited my city where I was raised! The secret to Belgian fries is that they fry these twice! The first time at a lower temperature, they take the fries out of the grease, let them air out for a short time then fry them again at a higher temperature! I am sure you enjoyed that beautiful city, looking forward to your next trip to Bruges. Love your videos!

Man I tell ya I'm ALWAYS a fan of frying food, ESPECIALLY when they decide to fy them twice!!! It makes the fries so much better. I'm going to make note of this so one day down the line Hannah and I can take a stab at making these ourselves!!! Thank you so much for tuning in Eddy!! We're so glad to have your viewership!!

Thank you so much Eric!!!! We're thrilled that you enjoy the content, especially because this week we're releasing THREE!!! (Mainly because the next vlog is a bit shorter😅). As far as the waffles go, we were offered syrup but we opted not to. We saw someone order theirs with the whipped cream and decided we'd rather have just a MASSIVE mound of that instead LOL. Those waffles were lifechanging though. We're both already trying to figure out a way to get back to Belgium before the year's over!!!

It's kind of amazing that there aren't any serious fast food chains in the US that have leaned 100% in on making their fries Belgian-style. I feel like it'd be a great business move!!!🤣 Thank you for watching Brad!!!

If I think if Belgium I don't think of Brussels Because that is the biggest mistake that you can make if you are a tourist. Go to Flanders that what is real Belgium is. And everything in Brussel is make for tourist and the food that good if you gonna eat it in Flanders. Brussels is nice but not that nice like Gent ore Brugge that are really Belgium city because Brussel is not really a Belgian city band we're you can find Belgium culture
