Wonderful amps and all-around gent (one-man operation) behind them. I've had my J20 for 10+ years now, and it's still rocking as it did on day one.

The only problem with master volumes is that you can't include power tube distortion in the sound, because the tubes are not overworked, just fed a more moderate signal, which is not amplified much. Is the "power scaling on this amp something that activates after the power tubes? If not then it's just the same problem; I can see only a reactive inductive load box as being the answer to this problem. My Groove Tubes STPG amp could act as a thirty watt amp or as a pre-amp, because the power attenuation happened after the out put valves.. essentially it had its own built-in power attenuator, which captured the output tube characteristics still but brought them to line level , like an amp model without IR's or cab sims.

Lazy J's are really special. They are much more than just a tweed clone. I have the J20. The harmonic content is insane and it has more headroom than a 5E3 when you run it with 6L6's. Pedals sound amazing with it and it sounds great with every guitar I plug into it. Jesse is also a stand up guy and very generous and friendly. I've owned some serious amps a Two-rock Classic Reverb Sig and a Komet Vimana, and the Lazy J is probably my favourite amp.

I was just going to paste same link here 😊. Brad and Lyle opened my eyes and now I'm always checking what's inside of an amp, doesn't matter how beautiful it sounds. I always wanted a Mesa Boogie and I've almost bought it. Luckily I saw how "lovely" they are engineered and now I've JP2C as a digital preamp and I love my 15 years old Laney L5T. Sure, it has a litte bit of surface mounted smd components, but it has huge transformer, tube sockets on the chassis and all high power parts are soldered through-hole. And my amp tech likes it too (did a re-cap last month, so maybe it'll outlive me) 😺

Totally correct. The lazy J is just a cheap kit amp. Mine blew up. In fact, it came faulty then some time later the transformer melted. Then the reverb unit went faulty. Garbage. I fixed it then sold it. Never again

I'm nowhere near the level of expertise you are, Mr John, and I haven't played as many different amps as you. But I'm tellin' you man the Cornell Romany 10 is awesome, and it's very near half the price of this amp.

I've played one of those. They're great. I think Lazy J's are truly special though and I've played a lot of high end amps. Jesse just knows how to tune that amp so damn well. They're incredible. Price is really more to do with demand and what people are prepared to pay, and Lazy J's have a waiting list, so people are prepared to pay for them.

Yeah a small tweed amp is kinda what I want. I like the demos of the Toneking gremlin. Super simple at 5 watts but seems to have a wide sweet spot. Too expensive for me though. Hey John I think it’s time to invest in a little better filming gear.

I just don’t getthe reason for this video you are a great player my friend but bit above my pay grade it’s an amp just dial in what’s good to you And remember …the lesser the gear the more of the player in my humble opinion 👍👍 you really are up there with the best

There are players with massive pedalboards that have made music that definitely touches people on an emotional level. Nothing to do with prowess as a player. I think Keith from 5-watt worlds philosophy of the ‘most music from the least gear’ is the best way to put it. If you take that to an extreme it would be very difficult get through a function gig with just a single channel amp and guitar.

Those power transformers are custom made for Jesse in the UK and aren't cheap crap... sometimes those sort of freak things happen with amps. Although, it's rare. You had a bad experience, that doesn't mean the amps are bad. Jeff Beck would've disagreed as he took them on tour with no issues, and so did Midnight Oil recently.

@@terencepomeroy3854 The guy who did that old video was Psionic audio, and Brad Webb in Australia did the other one. Firstly. those guys both have their heads so far up their own arses that they have turned into median strips. Neither of them can play guitar, and that Lazy J that Psionic Audio had on the bench was an old amp that had been modified and messed about by techs. Truly Shameful that Psionic audio uploaded it anyway. That guy has a total superiority complex going on. As for Brad, he is just a nobody who lives in the Blue Mountains Australia and thinks because he read a book on electronics, that gives him the right to rip peoples amps apart on youtube. Funny that Jeff Beck was using Jesses amps, and not psionic audios or Brads. Joe Bonamassa also used them and spoke highly of them, as does renowned session guitarist Tom Bukovac. His amps are built well. My amp tech is the authorized Two-rock Amps technician for Australia and he has seen the inside of my lazy J and says it's built very well. It also sounds incredible.

Doesn't rock, doesn't roll! Kitschy bass-overloaded cleans, muddy and at the same time scratchy inharmonious crunch, as overdrive you hardly can define these efforts seriously, without any punch an bite. Nothing for me!

That Spitty tone was horrible to my ears. Is the amp's output stage biased properly ? I know Spitty is a tone one can set certain Fuzzes to but they sound way better than that ... The cleans and the 'break up' tones were fine ... but that 'Driven Over The Top' sound 🤮

Noisy Pickups makes talking about Amp tone kind of irrelevant to me. If I was in the audience of a concert somewhere and the Pickups were that noisy, I'd be wondering why the sound system, guitar, gear, or whatever sounds so bad/cheap, and not about how full the bass frequencies are. As far as Load Boxes go, the best sounding ones I've heard on YT have been the Suhr Reactive Load. To me, they "sound" transparent, which seems like the best result in most cases.

The “builder” behind Lazy J is a conman. They’re kit amps, with extremely poor mods, adding reverb and term to circuits that weren’t designed for them. Extremely high priced kit amps that he’s managed to somehow slip under people’s noses. My tech confronted him on it when he had one in for “repair”.
