So Luton Town will be moving away from their famous Kenilworth Road ground and to a NEW swanky stadium in the next couple of years... In this video we do a site tour of where that new stadium will be built - POWER COURT, LUTON 🏟️ Originally the new Luton Town stadium was to be completed this year in 2024 but things like Covid & the war in Ukraine (rising costs) have pushed back the completion date. The reason it didn't get a go ahead in 2019 is because the shopping centre next to the new site was owned by an American company who took Luton FC to court to stop the stadium being built. After years of court battles and tons of court costs, the Americans sold the shopping centre and the new owners approved the stadium. About 3 years of wasted time and money due to those American shopping centre owners. The town council recently announced new regulations for new buildings so the stadium had to be slightly redesigned last year and those new designs have just been approved. The power substation has just been moved, then the soil has to be detoxed, the underground river redirected, then level the ground ready for building. The plan is to be finished for the 2026 season. The stadium could have a capacity of 25,000 with more areas of safe standing than originally planned.

I saw a KZfaq site showing what AI would make of Premier League grounds. Luton got by far the prettiest, a lovely retro character Victorian frontage. Luton deserve a beautiful ground after what you have endured. I hope it becomes a reality.

The river is underground and runs through the centre of the pitch It will be exposed to run through the flats but stay underground through the stadium

Got an electrical sub-station that provides half of Luton and the Airport to move before the building can start. Drawbacks of wanting to keep the club in the town centre, where it's easily accessible.

I love Kenilworth Road. Managers like Arteta, Klopp, Ten Haag and Guirdiola have warned their players about the hostile atmosphere we create. Just 10,000 of us compared to 50,000 and more. That suggests how shit Premier League fans have become. I’d rather stay at Kenilworth Road and renovate it. Architects can do astonishing things in tiny spaces these days. Boca Juniors is renowned for their atmosphere globally. They only have three sides to their stadium La Bombanera. Can’t we add a tier on top of the Kenilworth Road end and replace the Main Stand roof with a platform that winds around from the David Preece Stand to the Oak Road end next to the new Bobbers Stand and build another 10,000 seats above. So many fans with soulless new stadiums are missing their old traditional stadiums. At least Power Court is designed as a proper football stadium with four separate stands and no hint of a bowl. But we out our wonderful club into the genius hands of Sir Gary Sweet and Sir David Wilkinson so I can live with trusting their decisions now. So proud of our historic club.

@@MadMurdock69 it obviously won’t happen because we’ve already started clearing work at Power Court. I only have a few weeks max left to live so I won’t see PC. I hope for future generations we get PC right and don’t have a soulless stadium like almost every other club with a new ground have. A Bobbers style stand for the sick and unemployed with cheap seats and safe standing would be my wish. We can’t lose the hostility of Kenilworth Road. Steep stands right up to the pitch would be nice. Instead of Wolves or Stoke style stadiums where I’d need binoculars to see the far side of the pitch.

We had the money anyway but the premier league gives you an incredible amount, allowing the allocation to be built straight at 22 thousand rather than 17.5 thousand. 170 million is a lot of money 😂
