I remember around 1998, visiting staines west. I was 16 and went there with a feiend. At the time much more of the train station was there, including the buffers and track up to the main station building. The tracks in general were in tact and accessible. We would walk the length of the tracks, under various Bridges etc.

Fantastic, this is the line that serves the ashville youtube channel. West Drayton used to serve Uxbridge Vine Street aswell crazy looking back, how much was lost.

We use to play on the disused line we found one of those 4 wheeled pump up and down to move vehicles great fun!

I remember seeing a four-wheeled rail us pass ober the level crossing at Colnbrook station, when I must have been about 8 or 9, not long before closure of the passenger service.

I remember travelling the line behind 14xx tanks & autotrailer and AEC railcars, would have been mid to late 1950s. Also remember seeing single and two-car DMUs in the years prior to closure.

I believe that the station at Mitcham was the first house to be taken over by the railway to become a station . It was on the Surrey Iron Railway , one of the pioneers .

I walked much of that line in 1970. Track was still down. It looks very different now!

At 23:10 where you look down from the bridge there's actually old track including a set of points from the 1981 link. Only possible to see in winter due to the amount of undergrowth.

Thanks again Henry, I have, somewhere, a book that covers this and other ex GWR Branch Lines in West London, which I must locate. In pre M4 days, i used to drive through Colnbrook regularly rather than using the bypass and remember driving over the level crossing. One interesting section is, of course, the section that runs through the middle of the M25/M4 junction. For years I wanted to see a train there and on one occasion saw the rear of a train travelling towards Colnbrook. This really made me feel good.
