You're such the pioneer! Grateful for your videos! When I first realized that cutscenes were rendered live, it blew my mind. But it does make sense. When I was at Pixar in the 1990's, surface shaders were almost entirely procedural. The issue was the communication pipeline - algorothms are cheaper to move from memory to the processor than bitmaps. Today, games face the same issue, but instead of 12 hours per frame rendered in a massive room full of SGI's, we're rendering 120fps on a home PC. (Ah Moore's Law - in 15 years, computers are 1000x better. In 30 that's 1000x1000, or a million.) (I'm pivoting careers now because...the problems are all the same and I have something to contribute!)

im loving that i can take what looks like a video and i can reshoot the scene with my own camera, or pull off an "enemy of the state" rotate, zoom, enhance, or even a "blade runner" move

Great work! It still seems weird that there's so much empty land between Sunfall and The Daunt. Hopefully the 3rd game knits everything together.

It makes sense that a zd remaster is coming. The map has already been largely revised with FW assets. is mostly just copy and paste. Not that the game needs it. but it would be interesting to see what the entire game looks like. I mean... why not? They did something similar with Last of us 1

I'll totally buy a ZD remaster. Since so much is procedurally rendered, getting the biome assets working properly in the updated renderer is a major piece. I wonder what other milestones need to be accomplished before the map and animations can be brought into the updated renderer (eg the different gameplay mechanics for ZD.) It's totally nuts they had to get basically the whole ZD map (Meridian and west) working before release of FW!

@@kikijewell2967 They probably have a very "flexible" work flow with the decima engine. All assets from ZD probably also work without problems in FW. They probably just have to link the new objects to the coordinates of the old ones and swap out textures. Of course it's a little more than that... but I don't think the effort is that big. I would really like to talk to the developers and look through their asset library

We are getting close to the matrix, this big map with all its details is loaded quickly with the loading speed of the SSD, and everything is rendered for a long distance from the player. For a long distance, those npc are active.

Some of them are scripted NPCs. Normal ones disappear when Aloy is too far to see them. Sometimes, when you arrive at a campfire, people appear and fall a bit to get their feet on the ground

I really want a remaster or remake of the first game, with the improvements to the gameplay of the second game in addition to the improvements in the graphics, with all story scenes in real time with the game engine, some story scenes like the ending, are pre-recorded sequences in the first game, showing Aloy in the default suit 😑

its actually supposed to be (or at least have been?) in the works but got a lot of backlash bc sony is doing too many remakes and ppl want to see new stuff. will be interesting to see if it actually happens

Where are these intro locations (the ones that take place after she leaves the zero dawn map and before she reaches the Daunt) filmed on the map, in relation to where forbidden west’s map is? Are these places all in correct order, in between the 2 maps? thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to see what’s next 😊👍🏼

Thank you. The mountain and snowy scenes are the west side of zero dawn. Only the last 2 shots are on the forbidden west map. After i made the video, a friend asked to show the full map for each scene, ill have to try that to see if it works

Man, when I heard the PC version would be released I was already looking forward to your videos exploring FW, especially the opening credits. Thank so much for doing it so quickly. It's just so interesting how much they used of the ZD map. I'm in the midst of replaying it and it is still amazing how good this game looks on PS4. But here it's even better. I wish I could walk/ride the whole way from Meridian to the Daunt myself. But it looks like that's not really realistic, at least not with the map as it is now. Seems like they still created some "islands" to shoot the scenes with Aloy and the connections in between don't look really walkable/ridable. Your video is also the first time I was able to make out where exactly Aloy leaves the ZD map. It's a place where you can fight a Thunderjaw and it's usually a dead end. I guess they "blasted" through the wall to give Aloy a way out.

You could always walk through that path. It's between 2 carja towers. The borders reload if Aloy goes too close. The real daunt is closer to the end of daybrink lake. In the video she stays on the zero dawn map until then end where she rides to the elevator in 2 or 3 shots

@@PirateTVProductions hey, took me a while to get back to this. I checked the video again and you're right. I guess I never really thought about the order of the places Aloy passes on her way. Checking the Zero Dawn map again, she's really going all over the place. Going passed makers end and even Cauldron Sigma (?) only to end up south of Sunfall. Guess she took the scenic route XD I also went back to this Thunderjaw "pocket" to explore it and actually found a way up at the back, though I had to awkwardly jump-climb. And there were 2 towers up there but I couldn't get to them before the game reloaded. But it was really cool to find something new. Thank you!

Thank you very much for the exploration! 😊 I got so many new questions! 😁 • Just when Aloy is on the bridge of Meridian City, is the city more detailed? • Where's the pass and the land around at 1:46 relative to the known lands. I can't recognise it. • At 1:55, is it a newly constructed Cauldron entrance? It looks like our first Cauldron in Nora Lands, but it's not. OR if I'm wrong then is the Cauldron there under the ground? • At 2:24, is there the underground complex under the FAS Tower imported? • Whether at 2:59, did they imported the Zero Dawn Facility under the Ring? • At 3:03 (okay, it's rather a Zero Dawn relevance), there's another exit from the building below the Ballustrade, Helis came from there, monologueing for Aloy in the cage. Whether is there an internal structure designer but never seen? • At 3:35, no water. What about Daybrink, the lake? • Where's the new land at 4:48 relative to the previous known map region? • Whether the place at 9:30, is it truly near the Daunt map part? Where these are all on the map, btw.? I don't expect you, bro, to go back and check them, but if you also got curious then it could be cool. 🤘🏼 Oh-oh-oh, and what about the intro sequence? Is that an in-game animation, too, to be explored this way? The city ruin where above which the stormbird flies by? How detailed it is in that moment? The waterfall in the background when Aloy climbs up to her camp to dream about Lis? MYSTERIES!! 😁

in meridian the detail is high when Aloy and Varl are in Olin's house. there is a filter on the outside lighting so its dark, when she starts riding the detail goes to high in the town center and bridge. the sun moves a few times for different shots. i think those canyons are near the thunderjaw and bandit camp. the cauldron looks like one of the first ones, near red echoes i think. frao tower seems to be all there but the underground part didnt seem to be, some of those only load when Aloy goes in. i did see the entrance below the sun ring where the vents are, nothing below that though. i think the water takes more work to put back since they re designed the new water. i remeber seeing a red marker in a video about " this is an old style waterfall, please replace" it was at the mansion next to the spire. the new land is west of zero dawn where the test area used to be. those really snowy areas are even further west. far north of the isle of spires. sometimes you can see them by sunwing. i love wondering about these things and couldn't wait to visit all these areas

Yes. Some places trip a glitch that crashes the game though. I think it's when the local colors change and it can't find the right colors

Awesome! Even though I could tell the opening credits were rendered live, it would have taken me a while to think of using the free camera during them 🤣 It's so cool to see how they set up the shots! I'm having a lot of fun finding these places out of bounds, although I get sad when I run into the infinite "waiting for shader compliation" screen 🥲

Check wemod. The teleport command just went live. Im hoping we can jump over the missing shaders straight into the places we want to explore. Im loving exploring this map

I use both at once. Wemod gives you hotkeys for things like invisibility to AI, infinite health, crafting without supplies, and now teleport to waypoint. I was having trouble operating nukem's free camera. I always teleported with wemod. It was that loud ding in my early videos
