A lot of it seems like "well my guy can develop anything to stop you from killing it." And then another kid going "oh yeah well..my monster is ever more badass" The less violent ones tend to be creepier in my opinion the authors spend more time developing what they are and the ramifications of them being there instead of killing things kills a lot
@wilson9263
@wilson9263 3 жыл бұрын
Personally, the monsters that are made violent on purpose are a little overused and I'm a little bored with them as well. Mostly because this trope has been used to the point when we expect them to be like that. But truth be told, these are necessary for the non-violent ones to be entertaining. That also doesn't mean that violent, murderous SCPs can't be fun sometimes.
@Redditaurus
@Redditaurus 3 жыл бұрын
@Wilson think of this one: bugpeople (forgot their planet name, maybe scp3003?) have the smarts to make advanced robots beyond human comprehension. Some like to feel marces' pores over their body - too long to explain if you don't know... Anyways, Michael Reeves is a deviant bugperson refugee currently being housed in Containment Centre Offline TV House. His acne is proof there are bugs living inside him. He is considered Kelter-class as he has ambitions to build a "Giant Death Robot" of sorts. Or this fake one I started working on yesterday after learning of Scp5000 for the first time: ryan - 15 years old - human. his personality evolves based on the music he listens to; he has superpowers which activate when he listens to "Epic Music", and he gets stronger with the "intensity" of the song. He doesn't tire when he fights, and is human-sympathetic. His weakness is when music he doesn't like plays. His enemies can take this to their advantage; he'll be physically injured by ultra-high frequency sounds. From Superman - to the Wimpy Kid - in an instant. Both ideas are generic ik, but generic ideas are better than no ideas

"The last three years have been hard. I'm not meant for this world, Doctor. This is a world of flashing lights and happy people and air and food and capitalism and things I'd never imagined. Your world is stranger than the books and music and films I was allotted ever allowed me to conceive of. People in Russia walking on the surface, making phone calls to friends in the United States while military personnel from both countries cooperate to secure peace in places like Libya and Syria. It's beautiful, Doctor █████████. And it's not meant for me." This one paragraph of the POI file of 2273 and it made me legitimately grateful of my life because it reminded me that things could be a lot worse. I swear, the people who write these stories for some of the most ambiguous scp's should be authors because HOLY HELL are they dedicated to telling a convincing narrative. tl;dr: scp articles have no right to slap this hard.

Toastiester Yeah its sad. Those people are hypocritic and ungrateful pricks who say and spew crap more than commit to actions. If they’re so tough, they should send their asses to the frontlines so we can see if they would like seeing their own comrades die infront of them. I myself am thankful for the soldiers in my country since I know that I probably wouldn’t be able to handle the sheer amount of stress that they’re enduring in the zone. Just the thought of knowing that you can die any second in a land far from home is terrible.

As a military man this speaks absolute volumes and it brings me to a story of myself as a fresh wide eyed young man unfortunately tasting combat and his own blood for the first time and how as I was fading in and out as I sat on top of an Afghan mountain the only thing that kept coming in and out of my mind is how absolutely beautiful that mountain range I thought I was gunna die on was. I don’t like talking about it but sometimes out of the ugliness and hate of human kind there is always a bit of beauty hiding somewhere u just need the right perspective at the right time to see it. Bless everyone who takes the time to read this Edit- thanks to everyone that has taken the time to read this little excerpt and like and comment, and in these ever changing and difficult times I just wanna take the time to remind u that we are all people no matter skin color, race or even job, there will unfortunately always be bad people and the ones who chose to stand against them to save the majority we do it out of love for our fellow mankind, yes also unfortunately sometimes that might mean lives must be take for the greater good and also we are all humans we make mistakes sometimes but all in all the less we act like shit heads to each other the better the world becomes even if it’s just a little. And for god sake smile more motherfuckers I’ve been shot at more times then I care to recall been shot and almost killed once, blown up 3 times and have lost many great friends who were of all race and religion and I still find stupid shit that makes me smile and enjoy the life I have, so stop being shit heads and enjoy the little things like getting to take ur boots off after a long day of work or a cooling breeze in 110 degree weather lol idk just find something 🤷🏽‍♂️

I actually wrote 2273 partially in response to my nervousness, my anticipation about enlisting. I was worried that, in service to my country, I'd become a war criminal and a monster, or that I'd be subjected to horrific trauma. That hasn't happened and I'm not reenlisting so it's unlikely to happen but I'm glad something I wrote spoke to a combat vet. That being said I'm sorry you experienced what you did in Afghanistan.

AJ Blackwood hey man to each is own honesty the military isn’t for everyone I originally joined as a way to escape from my shitty home life thinking that I could just coast by and get paid to stay fit and and I was also infantry in the army so as one does with that title I talked hella shit to everyone and anyone(still do lol) but when my number was called up for a tour I had no clue what I really had gotten myself into, I mean at 19 your invincible unfortunately life has way to make you rethink ALOT and graciously it also gives you a chance to re-humble your self. I do not regret joining and re-enlisting nore do I regret what happened on that mountain and those villages. As military members we get screwed a lot not only by members of our government but by the extremely large population of civilians who have absolutely no clue about the conditions of those people not only in Afghanistan but in many places stricken by terrorism and war. Although I carried a rifle with me everywhere we went in the 6 months I was out there I was probably shot at 4 times they know not to fire at a better trained military(there not dumb people just bad people) so they took it out on the people we liberated, fed, and gave a reliable water source to. And it’s heart breaking and frustrating that every time u save some people’s lives and they thank you and give you blessing to hear that two days after u left because we helped them they were murdered honestly I think that a huge contributor to many ptsd cases cuz I know it always broke my heart to get that news but god bless I actually got into SCPs dicking around on KZfaq with the little bit of internet we got in Fort Drum lol be this was wonderful man I wish I had the skill you guys have in order to make these awesome SCPs

The fact that this SCP ties together a Cold War Apocalypse, veteran trauma, and existential religion, is hugely impressive and memorable. Serious emotional impact in play. I could easily imagine this as a novel or movie. His arc/tone is not dissimilar to Dr Manhattan, birthed out of incredible pain, gaining unnatural power, then retreating from a world’s cruelty to think on existence and himself. Stepping away from a world he no longer presumes the right to affect and confuse with youthful fury. There’s something remarkably human in it.

If I'm being honest, I'm starting to get tired of every other SCP article being about some end of the world business or alternate dimension stuff where a god is trying to crawl out of to kill us. I've always been more partial to early SCP style articles, things that are a bit strange, places that don't work as they should, little horrors that kill maybe two people at a time if you don't pay attention...and stuff like this. An odd person from an odd place trying to find somewhere that wants him and an escape from the odd, horrible things he'd done. This is my kind of SCP.

the "minor" SCPs are good exactly for that, feel relatable, stir unexpected feelings from someone who's ready for some gore or abhorrent occurrence of un-nature. Then there are the bigger, flashier, dangerous and over the top SCPs that paint a greater picture, a battle of humanity against the anomalous and itself. They show just how big the Foundation multiverse is, which has its own merits to me, that wide spectrum is what makes the wiki so unique

It might have been a combination of both. His brain could be trying to lock away the memories, which caused the suit to bring the ambush site's memory back so that he could warn his army of enemy presence or a recovery team of his squad's bodies' location. This coupled with his survivor's guilt is probably what caused the vision of the dead bodies accusing him.

GhostPants Bold of you to assume I even work *for* the Foundation. I only answer to one God, and the Foundation does not support my Church. :) Speed dating was quite fun though, especially SCP-049. Quite the gentleman.

This is...my God how do I put it? I'm just in awe. This documentary is just beautifully done. A story of a man whos whole life has been nothing but a Hell crawl but in the end found a sliver of salvation.

I think I found my new favorite SCP. Alexei is so well written, so wonderfuly characterized and fits into the SCP world so well it feels unreal. My most favorite aspect is deffinately how his relationship with the researcher was handled. This kind of thing is rare on the wiki, and i dread to read some of the newer entries. This is good enough to be it's own standalone peace of fiction.
