In this video we head East to the food capital of Turkey!! Watch as we explore the fascinating city of Gaziantep. We start our first day off with Katmer for breakfast before heading into a cave cafe for Turkish coffee and Turkish tea (çay). We then head toward the very interesting Zeugma Mosaic Museum while working up our appetite again before heading to the famous Kebapçı Halil Usta for the best Kebab we have ever had!! Before ending our first day we head up to Gaziantep castle for 360 views of the city and finish our night with some incredible Baklava! Day 2 begins with us heading out for some Beyran for breakfast and then some Menengiç Coffee from a 500 year old cafe! We then head into the Coppersmith Bazaar and Gaziantep's main market before finishing our trip in Gaziantep with some more Kebap from the famous İmam Çağdaş, where we have the best food we've had in all of Turkey!!

There are several reasons why Turks have preferred to drink Ayran. First, and I think most importantly, it does not contain any additives. It just consists of water, yogurt and salt. Secondly, Turkish cuisine is usually spicy and really oily cuisine. For this reason, it is better to drink a light and refreshing beverage such as Ayran alongside heavy meals. And lastly, it is an inexpensive drink and can be easily prepared even at home^^

It’s definitely good when you give it more of a chance, but at first we found it a bit of a strange flavour! After a few tries we found it quite refreshing with meat especially!

Hi there from Gaziantep! I haven't watched the entire video so I haven't seen it, but I hope you gave "Küşleme Kebaphan" a visit before leaving. That is the best restaurant to taste some of the finest cuisine of Gaziantep and maybe the best kebab in Turkey. As for katmer, I wish you had visited "Orkide".

Gaziantep is close to syria and more specifically Aleppo..syrian cuisine is spectacular and I saw a turkish food guide state that one baklava shop that was very old originated when a turk went to aleppo to learn how to make baklawa..in any event it is delish!

I have heard some similar stories as well about the history of some of the foods and where they may have originated. We actually got closer to Syria in another video, and I’m definitely hoping to find a way to visit someday!
