We’re learning more about an attempted robbery at Euphorium pot shop in Covington in King County. A would-be robber was shot dead there Thursday night. And an employee who happens to be the ID checker at the front door is now being called a hero.
Police in Tacoma were investigating after a worker at a marijuana shop, was fatally shot during a robbery Saturday evening. It is the second fatal shooting at a marijuana dispensary in as many days in Western Washington.
When David Longwell left his house to pick up some food and traffic hit a standstill, he figured there had been another crash on E. Portland Ave. in Tacoma.
Law enforcement and members of his family gathered Saturday to escort the body of Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Dom Calata from St. Joseph's Medical Center to the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office.

Interesting side note. The convenience store across the street from world of weed, Minh grocery was armed robbed in 1991 and the owner shot and killed by the robber. As he drove away in his pickup the owners young son stepped outside and shot the crook through the back window of the truck and he crashed into a building. He was killed. Instant karma.

Security guards are hired for insurance purposes since insurance providers won't cover you unless you demonstrate that you hire staff paid to protect assets, deter theft, and keep the peace. It's the same reason retail stores hire loss prevention employees and why bars hire bouncers. That being said, because security and loss prevention tends to be way more aggressive than even the police, they're a HUGE liability issue and so should be hired with caution. It takes only one injured customer to go out of business. And the money won't come out of the security guard's pocket, it'll come out of yours.

Start a goddamn bank for pot shops. Hawaii has the bank of Hawaii. Not all banks have to be the size of Bank of America to be profitable. There are tons of small banks that have great success. Just make a bank that accepts payments from all legal and medical states and this will end. Then they won’t have the problem of operating in states which don’t have legal marijuana
@BluePlanet1
@BluePlanet1 2 жыл бұрын
The problem is that the bank would only be able to conduct business inside the state of Washington. And they would probably be limited on how many clients that they can run payment processing for as a small operation. It’s better than the current situation but long term they really do need access to the wider financial system so that they can limit their liabilities that come with being cash only.

the federal government would not ensure a bank that provides money for or stores money for a pot shop. it also would not support a bank that does so, and that bank would come under easy federal judgement and seizure. "Store worker shooting and killing the suspected robber"----I have NO problem with thieves getting killed. The less of them, the better for the law abiding citizens. I am sick and tired of increased car thefts & vandalism, store thefts where thief just walks out the door---not allowed to do anything--just let them go. Drive by shooting are on a big uptick. We need a change of government & policies. The law abiding citizens are the ones who suffer the most with all the crap going on.
