I did just learn that in rare occasions, you can pinch blood vessels and give yourself a stroke if you cut off blood to the brain. I self-adjust my neck all the time, so I need to be more careful.

I do the same. It’s not optimal. I’m sure it poses the same risk as other methods, so it’s probably best to stop. It’s just so hard.

It’s possible to have a stroke from doing this. Runs the risk of severing a vertebral artery. Only have a chiropractor adjust your neck like this.

One of my old managers used to crack their neck like this. A couple years ago, they tore a ligament in their neck doing this same movement, had a stroke in front of us, couldn't speak, didn't know who they were, where they were etc. They almost died and spent the remainder of the year recovering in the hospital. Please don't fucking crack yourself like this.
@mescellaneous Жыл бұрын
you can see he moves his torso/shoulders together with the motion. that is from experience. im guessing your manager was just twisting his head and thus pulling on certain ligaments/muscles unnecessarily. if you know what you are doing, you're supposed to target the joint. if you're inexperienced, you will think cracking joints is about "twisting" them. and "twisting" means you dont care how your muscles are positioned and whether they have the range of motion for the adjustment. lastly, if you dont feel safe, dont do it. but your spine has joints for a reason. it's not just a long bone.
@360Fov4 ай бұрын
Even though its probably relatively uncommon, even the mild chance of essentially ruining your entire life for a neck crack is crazy. I really need to stop... it's also just a waste of time, but it feels highly compulsive.
