@chiaskid
@chiaskid 4 ай бұрын
@@Christlightheartthe song Amor Prohibido was actually inspired by Selena’s grandparents from her dad’s side. Her grandfather was apparently considered too poor to date her grandma, so they saw each other in secret. Hence the lyrics in the song. However, it’s true that Yolanda is a lesbian. Selena herself was straight tho.

I live in Corpus Christi, Texas. I went to school with Selena. I had her for Homemaking and Art. She sat at the same table that I sat at in Art Class. She was just getting started in her singing career. She would go on The Domingo Show. They featured up and coming groups. She had the very short curly hair at the time, she was very funny and nice. I remember where and what i was doing when the news did a breaking story. I was cleaning the bathroom and the Tv was on and i heard them say she got shot. I came around the corner and just listened and cried. She is buried like 10 mins from my house. Its so sad. All i know is when they release Yolanda she shouldnt come back to Corpus, she's going to have a target on her back.

Even if she does make it out, that monster will be taken out, quick. Correction Officers at the prison where she is, attempted to have her integrate with the rest of the inmates. Needless to say, they put her back into her own private cell immediately because of fear the inmates would have taken her out. Even with prisoners, there are people who they won’t accept, that being people who f’ed with children and Yolanda. So though she may be released (I also want that monster in jail forever), the gangs will take care of her. She is one of the most hated criminals in our community. That monster will have her life counted in seconds before she’s taken out, she won’t remain alive if she gets out

I’ve been a Selena fan for many years but didn’t know some of the details you talked about. So informative! I suggest a part two discussing Gloria de la Cruz, a Selena look-alike who tried out for the role in the movie and was found murdered by her boyfriend in 1996.

I remember that day so well. I was 17. Just came home from my fast food job and the whole house was sitting in front of the TV watching the police stand off with Yolanda. It lasted for hours. When I walked in the house door, everyone was saying Selena is dead and Yolanda killed her! I was in disbelief. I thought they were trying to trick me do i started watching and saw it really was Yolanda! That year, alot of baby girls were named Selena. My mom was pregnant with my sister at the time and a Mexican co worker of my mom offered to buy her a crib if she named my sister Selena. She didn't end up being named Selena, she ended up being Angela. But it was a tragic night.

Jennifer Lopez wouldn’t b anything if Selena was alive! I remember Mexicans being outraged that a Puerto Rican was going to be cast to portray Selena!! Just like Beyoncé wouldn’t b where is today if Aaliyah were still here! 2 ANGELS that live on FOREVER Gone but NVR Forgotten!!! RIP SELENA!!!

Also it's important to mention that none of Selena's family and friends recall her referring to Mojo jojo (Yolanda) as "mom" It was more than likely made up by her to make them seem closer and to make her seem more trustworthy to the public. Selena had a REAL mom already and she loved her❤

Thank you so much for doing this video. I remember accidentally stumbling on the movie on TV when I was young and had no idea who Selena was. When my parents noticed it was playing, they immediately said not to change the channel and watch it with them. At the time, I was a moody pre-teen in the early 2010s, being annoyed cause I wanted to see what else was on TV. The best thing to happen to me was that I fell in love with Selena, her story, and her music, and my parents got me almost everything of her, like the movie, CDs, and a magazine that was published after her death, which was cool. So, thank you again for doing this video for her and the fans.

My name is Selena and scarily I was suppose to be born in March and have a different name, and then my mom changed it to Selena, and I was born on April 16th 2000 which is also Selena Qs bday as well. Also we both grew up not knowing to speak Spanish fluently the only difference is she learned and I’m still trying to learn and she’s Mexican and I’m Puerto Rican and Liberian. I also sing though as well, it’s a very weird connection. We also have similar traits when it comes to our kindness and having a vibrant smile that attracts people naturally 😭❤️. I’m so happy you made this video, it’s needed considering the person who took her away will be free next year and be able to live the rest of her life, something Selena never got the opportunity to do 😣🙏🏽❤️. Rest in peace to the queen of Latin music 🫶🏽.

I love Selena’s music- both Spanish and English songs. She is an incredible singer and performer. She had so much talent. Her energy during her performances was insane- she would sing and dance the entire show- she wasn’t like artists today who rely on singing to a track- she actually sang her songs while dancing the entire time. It’s so sad that she was murdered at such a young age with so much to offer the world.
