KD has been blessed with superstar teammates his whole career. Played with 2 former mvps in their prime with okc harden and westbrook, played with the already stacked 73 win warriors. Played with 2 all stars in Brooklyn, and joined a championship contender team with all stars in phoenix. He never had to be struggle or carry a team throughout his whole career like early Lebron, dame, Iverson, or KG did. Yet a lot of people put him in the top 15 or top 10 of all time. Crazy

Losing bias can really skew our view of a player. Durant was in MVP conversations in January this year. He still can produce superstar level performances but it’s obvious that Father Time is catching up to him as well. And he’s still sort of injured, slipping in warm ups and spraining his ankle. Granted it’s just a sprain, these kind of things are not good for his body especially at his age now.

@sparxx9537

Huh bro please explain to me, a fellow okc fan how this man has no leadership. No joking around but I’m dumbfounded. This is the same man that when Westbrook went down in 2014 stepped up and put up a legendary mvp season. Stepped up and absolutely led the torching of the Cavs in those back to back finals. Came back to try to help the dubs against the raptors before he was fully healed up and it basically cost him his prime. Damn near single-handedly led the nets over the eventual champions in 2021. Like I’m just flabbergasted how he is being designated to role player when he has had big moments time after time. Is it cuz of the losing? Cuz would ya ever say AI or Tmac are role players?
@dtube441
@dtube441 Жыл бұрын
@sparxx9537 I would put all three of them under the same category. Great players. But not leaders of men. It's no knock to their talent. I said glorified for a reason. Would you consider AI and Tmac leaders, tmac perhaps? His scoring is what did those things. When that's not there what else does he provide the team? I'm not denying the great things he's done. In my opinion to act like his handle isn’t good or whatever is kinda silly to me the man at 7 feet tall moving how he’s moving is remarkable. His problem has nothing to do with his physical game he mentally just isn’t that guy like he was in okc and golden state. He was way hungrier and more desperate to be a winner and his play showed it. He looks like he’s just content with just hooping nowadays that’s what I think his biggest flaw is.

This is true. he always talks about just wanting to hoop, work on his game, and that's pretty much it. That indicates he that he loves the sport of basketball purely for it's characteristics and being able to just play it and going out on the court, but the competition factor is not quite there like it used to. He had a quote saying something like "I'm solidified in what I am" or whatever, and that showed he's complacent, like he's gonna try to win but he's not gonna go 100% all the time, and it showed in these last two playoffs

Regardless of his playoff performances he’s still an amazing player, but the NBA is currently so saturated with talent that even being a 25-30 point scorer isn’t enough a lot of times. With players like Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, Luka, Dame, SGA, Steph, Jimmy Buckets, Jalen Brunson, Booker, etc there’s definitely a lot of competition for those top 10 spots. I feel like the “old head” syndrome is happening where people just hold to to their generation in this case the 2010s. It’s not even that KD is slightly worse it’s just that gust like Giannis Luka and Joker are just better. People just need to accept that at this point

okay tbh being a kd fan and being let down these past 2 seasons… im starting to think KD is a 2 but an all star talent type of 2 ofc but i just dont see KD doing KD type shit anymore his age is finally showing in his game he doesnt even look like the same player from years back at all because kd was carried by booker this whole playoff series. The suns have a handful going into the offseason and i except some major changes coming up because i really only see kd being the player he is now for like 2 more seasons maybe and after that 👎🏾

Look...been saying this. We all laughed at russ... We said he was the problem... Truth is, outside of playing with a stacked golden state team that already boasted a 2 time mvp and champ, Durant looked his best with russ. Everything said in video is true. Russ created offense...put pressure on defense , was the engine, and took the bullets from media. In golden state dude could just fit into what was there and because he 7 feet, shoot, and somewhat passive, he fit right in. We saw what happened with him and kyrie...man git swept. Tatum and brown really lil boy'd him out there Wasn't all roses against the clips...they were literally down the 2 guys that could defend him... Then gets to Denver and he simply didn't look good. Hes still a top 10 player in this league...but hes not top 5. And honestly...for those trying to pass the torch...hes never been , isn't currently, and never will be better than lebron

Yes I do believe KD can be a #1 and I do believe he’s the best player on the suns. All this series should show people is that he’s NOT LEBRON and to stop holding him to those kinda standards. Hes not that guy but still a great guy. He’s still top 5 but prolly at 5 right now maybe even 6.

It is true that KD tends to be heavily overrated by the media. For example imo Kawhi vs KD at their peaks is very much a conversation although the media and many fans would have you believe that KD is just levels above him. That said i think KD can be the best player on a championship team. I think in another universe the Nets could have won it all. Suns lack depth and reps, but these are fixable problems; I expect them to be better next year and the year after. As you say he is not as much of a plug and play superstar as the media claims but its not that difficult to build around him

Why does KD always and I mean ALWAYS get a pass? I’ve never seen a single player in any sport let everyone down time and time again only to be propped to the top of the league because his game is “pretty to watch” the dude is a great scorer don’t get me wrong but he doesn’t bring anything else to the table, and his efficiency has plummeted in the playoffs the past 4 seasons or so. He’s also a notorious playoff choker, there are a good amount of players who can score the same amount of points on either better or the same efficiency and can play make or rebound or play defense. If KD is on your team, and you don’t have a perfect super team, he is a massive liability.
