Thousands of years of history is experienced by those who travel Germany’s Romantic Road with its world famous historic cities, fortresses and palaces, from Würzburg to Neuschwanstein Castle. The picturesque Baroque town of Würzburg is located on the River Main amid the Franconian wine region and is dominated by the mighty Marienberg Fortress. The Celts created a fortress that subsequent rulers gradually extended and the oldest church in Franconia, including a massive watchtower, continues to be protected by several huge walls. Tauberbischofsheim is one of the oldest cities in the popular Tauber Valley that was once completely walled. Missionary bishop, Boniface, founded Germany’s first women's monastery in Germany in 735 A.D. and installed a family member, Lioba, as abbess, who tutored the daughters of the nobility and the Free Francs. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is where Germany’s Middle Ages have been preserved up to the present day with huge entrance gates and high walls that lead into the former imperial city.
In 1868, Bavarian King Ludwig The Second had a dream come true in Allgäu, southern Germany: Castle Neuschwanstein, the realisation of his amazing world of fantasy.
This fairytale castle was in construction for seventeen years and in every way the idyll of ancient German knighthood.
The wealth of occidental history, art and culture makes a journey on the Romantic Road a most fascinating adventure into the past. A dream journey through a country and its history.

Amo este pais tan fantastico en tantos sentidos, su cultura, gastronomia, sitios, me lo he recorrido varias veces, de norte a sur y de sur a norte y no termino de maravillarme, con lista en mano he visitado, los sitios declarados por la UNESCO y los mejores segun lo vemos en los libros y ahi nos dirigimos, semanas de ver tanto lujo en los palacios, en los castillos unos privados, tantos tesoros, los mejores museos, el enriquecimiento y el gusto de esta cultura no me la quita nadie. Y ahora los cruceros de AIDA son absolutamente recomendables. Cuanto sitio que visito, tomo fotos, permitidas y prohibidas algunas, porque solo repasando las fotos, se queda mas grabadas en la memoria.

4:44 Lovely Rothenburg, where all the tourists go "oh, it is so verrry medieval".... March 13th 1945, bombing-terror attack blew 40 percent of the town away, so half of what you see there has been rebuilt after the war. Thank you, Churchill and Harris, for giving the franconian builders so much work to do!

Why not all old citys not have reacting of old centurys with figths food and other things renusungs fests dresst up like old centuries of the old Middle Evi years kings and all . with history lessons with it all for the childern of europe.

The Celts even originated in southern Germany (and eastern France).

@@rudolfkraffzick642 Yes, but at that time Southern Germany was Gaul country when the Roman came and it was conquered. So the Celts originated from there and were pushed back by the Gauls before the Roman even got there. The Celts never returned to their lands after the Gauls pushed them out. And the German tribes were in the areas of North Germany, West Prussia, East Prussia and Pommern - the places the Roman were never able to conquer.

The celts were in southern Germany but were kicked out by the Germanic people and mainly the romans

@@kaiserschmarrn260 Ok, if we speak of the Celts long before the cities were built and were pushed out by the Gauls - very well, but they had no part in building the cultural monuments then. So - still, the documentation is not correct about that part.
