Port line 35027 is currently awaiting overhaul and 35018 has returned to the mainline and 35006 another merchant navy loco is currently on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire railway

Tangmere did make a return to steam in 2003 and I saw her for the only time in 2015 at Evesham

It would be nice if the West Country class on the film had been painted in southern railway livery. But we should be grateful these fine locomotives have been preserved.

Today 34027 taw valley is no longer mainline certified and nor is 34092 city of wells

I’ve seen clan line a couple of times and for city of wells once and more importantly I’ve seen the s15 of 506 and 926 repton on the seven valley railway and on the mainline through my local area

Yes the LMS and the GWR and the LNER also produced fine locomotives as well. I did like the Southern Railway relatively small compared to the other Three companies.

Of course the rebuilt locomotives sound out of beat. One cylinder had outside admission and the two new ones had inside admission. They were totally messed up when they were “rebuilt”, actually totally reconstructed, to resemble the ghastly LMS rubbish. They also had their superheater area reduced, and their boiler pressures. And their hammer-blow increased with their new valve-gears. If the Bulleid Pacifics had been fixed properly, by OVSB, they’d’ve been better still.

City of Wells running on the down from Templecombe to Yeovil with 33/1 and engineers saloon filming it was being Fired by Tom Doel and good friend who sadly since passed away, he was a Salisbury driver at the time. anyway I lived locally but sadly was away that week and missed it. the full film is on YT though.
