Here in NZ rugby is our sport and we see hard hits all the time but this one made me actually cringe and have serious concern for our South African brother, looked like a neck breaker

Lovotti & Quaglio should be cited for the "assault" (can't think of a better word) on Duane Vermeulen & both should receive lengthy bans. If you can't have respect for your opponents at least have some respect for the game & the laws that govern it.

Indeed, blocking (obstructing) is illegal in rugby. It's not necessary for the person with the ball to be the furthest up the field - you simply cannot impede others from tackling the ball-carrier (not counting mauls, of course).
